Happy World Teachers’ Day to the people who make Monroe feel like home. 💙
I get to work alongside teachers who show up early, stay late, and still find the energy to wave a foam hand in the quad at lunch. They believe in our students loudly, and it shows.
We asked our Vikings to finish the sentence “Because of AVID, I…” Today I’m finishing it myself: because of AVID, I get to do this work with the best team I know.
Thank you, teachers, for every door you open and every student you refuse to give up on. Tag a teacher who changed your story. 👇

💙🦅 LAUSD AVID is so proud of the AVID students at Fleming Middle School for representing our AVID familia during the South Bay Bus Tour!

These student leaders presented to LAUSD Region Superintendent Dr. Robert Whitman, Lomita Mayor Cindy Segawa, Assemblymember Mike Gipson, CSUDH President Dr. Mary Ann Villarreal, and city councilmembers, business leaders, and community partners from across the South Bay. 🌟

What an opportunity to elevate student voices and showcase the confidence, leadership, and college and career readiness our AVID Falcons are building! Thank you to Fleming’s educators for preparing students to step forward, share their experiences, and represent us with pride.

Keep soaring, Falcons! 🎓✨

AVID Day may have been almost a week ago, but we couldn’t forget our amazing AVID students at Dana Middle School! ⚓💙💛

Students celebrated by completing their “Because of AVID, I…” statements and participating in team-building activities that strengthened connection, confidence, and community. Our Region South AVID sites truly know how to bring the Familia together! 🎓

What a way to end AVID Spirit Week! 💙 We celebrated National AVID Day with schools across the country and are so proud to be an AVID school. We definitely felt the AVID spirit all across campus!

Because of AVID, we’ve built a stronger college-going culture, opened doors for students, and strengthened a community where students are supported, challenged, and inspired to dream big the past 30 years. 💙

A message from Ms. Babayans:
When we first talked about doing a full AVID Week celebration, I have to admit it seemed like a huge undertaking, and I thought, “let’s just do an AVID Day” because it felt like a lot. 😅
But what came together last week was truly wonderful. From classroom visits and data chats, to Fun Friday Jeopardy, PIQ presentations, the photo booth, “Because of AVID” stories, and celebrating the incredible educators who make this program what it is — every bit of it was worth it. 💕
This kind of week doesn’t happen without vision and relentless effort, and that credit goes to our AVID Site Coordinator. Thank you for pushing us to dream bigger than just a day. 💗💗

🎉AVID Day at Monroe High School was one for the books!🎉

We kicked off the day with classroom visits, our coaches and coordinator leading data chats with students right in their math classrooms. From there, we caught Mr. Ramos’s science class collaborating in small groups outside, then stopped by Ms. Torres’s AVID Elective class for a Fun Friday college Jeopardy game, and wrapped up in Ms. Babayans’s AVID Senior Seminar for a powerful PIQ presentation from Dr. Corado.

Everywhere we went, AVID strategies were alive and thriving — from core classes to PE to CTE. This is what AVID schoolwide really looks like. 💙

To celebrate, we made AVID bracelets, hit up the photo booth, and recorded our “Because of AVID...” stories. We also took a staff photo to honor the incredible adults who make it all possible, our administrators and counselor who oversee AVID, out there supporting students and being the amazing educators they only know how to be.

What a week full of inspiration, lessons, motivation, and guidance, all in the name of getting every student post-secondary ready. 🎓🎉🧑🏽‍🎓👩🏽‍🎓👨🏻‍🎓🎓🎉🎓
