"Selena Quintanilla’s pride in her Latin American heritage has influenced me as a student by teaching me to embrace where I come from while working toward my goals. Her confidence encourages me to be proud of my own background and bring my experiences into the classroom. Selena also reminds me that success takes perseverance. When school or life becomes difficult, I remind myself that obstacles do not define what I am capable of achieving.”

Noah, LAUSD student, carries that mindset into the classroom and into their music, staying connected to their culture while challenging themselves and working toward their goals.

Selena Quintanilla embraced her Mexican American identity while building a music career that connected generations and cultures. She proudly brought her culture into her music and used her platform to represent people who did not always see themselves in the spotlight.

Because Selena embraced where she came from and kept reaching for her dreams, Noah is finding their own way to celebrate their culture, express themselves through music and inspire others.

Every day, our Pupil Services and Attendance counselors remove barriers, connect families to resources and help students stay on track toward graduation and college.

Most importantly, they make sure our students know someone is in their corner.

THANK YOU to our incredible PSA counselors for showing up, supporting our students and making a difference every day!

Principal Mode: ACTIVATED!
We’re kicking off Principals Month with the third annual Principal for a Day Breakfast, bringing principals and community partners together ahead of a big day on October 1.
Huge shout-out to @brookeonair Brooke Thomas for keeping the morning moving and bringing the energy, and to the Hollywood High Notes for giving us an amazing student performance!
Now it’s almost time for our partners from across Los Angeles to step into the principal’s shoes, shadow school leaders and get a firsthand look at the people, programs and student experiences happening across LAUSD.

Taking care of your mental health can start with one step. 💚

Breathe. Get outside. Move. Create. Connect. Notice when things feel different. Reach out when you need support. You don’t have to do everything at once—start with what feels possible for you.

Throughout Suicide Prevention Month, we’ve shared ways to care for yourself, connect with others, notice when you may need more support, and know where to find help.

A caring community is here for you. Help is available. Things can get better.

For immediate help, call or text 988 — free, 24/7 support for mental health, emotional distress, or crisis.

It’s a big day for the Spartans! Huntington Park High School is celebrating the ribbon cutting of its newly modernized campus!

The $184 million bond-funded transformation includes two new classroom buildings, a new gymnasium and pool facility, modernized historic buildings, upgraded technology and safety features, and new outdoor spaces for students to learn and connect.

And one of the coolest details is right inside the new gym: a piece of the original gymnasium was preserved and placed on the wall, keeping a part of the school’s history right here on campus. It’s a meaningful connection to the generations of Spartans who have helped shape this community.

This celebration is for the students, families, educators, neighbors and community partners who helped make this transformation happen. Now, a new generation of Spartans gets to make their own memories in these spaces. by @lausddepsup

Finding support doesn’t have to start with knowing exactly where to go. 💚

At school, at home, or in your community, start with someone you trust. Tell them what’s going on or simply let them know you could use some support. They can listen and help you figure out what comes next.

Start with one person.
