Crocheting is so much more than a hobby and there’s a ton of data to back that up 🙌🏼🧶

Do you crochet to calm your brain? Tell me in the comments 👇🏼💬

‼️ EDIT (because I care about facts!): in slide 3: the correct numbers from that study are 89.5% felt calmer and 82% felt happier, and 75% felt crocheting gave them a sense of accomplishment 📈 Other studies link crocheting to stress reduction.

Nothing on this earth will convince me that a 2-row repeat is not the superior blanket pattern 🙌🏼🧶

No counting every single row! No 40 row repeats to memorize! Just cozy, rhythmic stitching and a blanket that practically makes itself 🤗

The Meadow Blanket is my best selling pattern for a reason (1,000+ of you agree 🥹)!

✨ Beginner/advanced beginner friendly
✨ Simple 2-row repeat
✨ 3 sizes: Baby/Stroller, Lapghan + Small Throw
✨ Video tutorials for the body AND the border

Agree or disagree? Drop your favorite blanket stitch below 👇 and comment MEADOW and I’ll send you the link 💕

It’s been a long week! I was down with a cold but had so many projects to work on for Halloween. Somehow I finished them all (and added in more when it was probably unnecessary 🤣)!

I love working on @lavenderandyarn projects but sometimes it’s nice to take a break and use my creativity in a different way. I actually feel recharged and have a lot of ideas to start working on 💡🤗

I hope you had a great Halloween! 🎃

Did you crochet or craft anything for Halloween? Share your photos in the comments! 👇🏻❤️

Patterns were all found on Etsy 💕

That’s it! No fancy stitches to learn first…just these 2 basics worked up into something so cute and cozy! 🤗

✨ Here’s why you’ll love this pattern:

1️⃣ It’s made with super bulky yarn, a slightly open stitch, and a larger hook so it has great drape! 🤩

2️⃣ It uses beginner friendly stitches - single crochet and double crochet ONLY! 🙌🏼

3️⃣ It’s a 2 row repeat so you can memorize it quickly and crochet on autopilot (my favorite!) 🧶

4️⃣ The written pattern comes with video tutorials for the body and fringe to help guide you along ❤️

Comment BOHO and I’ll send you the link 😊

My all-time favorite beginner stitch is the half double crochet! 🤩

I like to think of it as the slightly taller cousin of the single crochet - same idea, just one extra yarn over at the start and then suddenly your rows grow a little faster 🤗

This is the stitch I grab when I want something mindless but not slow 🙌🏼

Full instructions 👇🏼

1. Make a slip knot and place it on your hook.
2. Chain a foundation row of as many chains as your project needs (or whatever length you want to practice with).
3. Yarn over once, then insert your hook into the 3rd chain from the hook. (The 2 chains you skipped count as your first half double crochet.)
4. Finish that first stitch:
• Yarn over and pull up a loop - 3 loops on your hook.
• Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops
5. Every stitch after that is the same: yarn over, insert into the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops), yarn over and pull through all three. Repeat all the way across.
6. Starting a new row: chain 2, turn your work, and that chain-2 counts as your first half double crochet, so skip the very first stitch and half double crochet into the next stitch and each stitch across. When you get to the end of the row, make your last stitch into the top of the chain-2 from the row before (that’s a stitch too, so don’t miss it!)

If you’ve been following along in the Back to Basics series, then you’ve now learned the 3 most basic crochet stitches - single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet 🧶🤗

Tell me which one is your favorite in the comments 👇🏼💬

Is it even possible to walk out without at least 1 skein? 😂

GIFS ONLY in the comments! No words. No explaining. The GIF will say it all 🙌🏼

I’ll go first 👇

And for the record, I was just looking too 👀😅

✨ It’s no secret that crocheting has a ton of health benefits. But did you know that crocheting can actually help lower your blood pressure and reduce your stress hormones? And while all of that is happening, it can also increase your serotonin levels (I like to call these your body’s “happy chemicals”). Ultimately, all of this naturally improves your mood and calms your mind. ✨

Do you find yourself crocheting to put yourself in a better mood? Let me know below! 👇😊

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get through everything I wanted to say on video without getting too emotional, but I still wanted to share the rest of my thoughts and advice here:

Finish the blanket ❤️

After some time has passed (whatever you feel is appropriate based on the circumstances), present the blanket as a gift in a sensitive way.

When it’s time to give it to her, don’t just ask, “I have a blanket I made for the baby, would you like it?”

Actually bring her the blanket and give it to her.

She might get emotional and that’s okay. That’s to be expected. It doesn’t mean you did the wrong thing.
I truly believe she will be touched, because you’re showing her that her baby mattered. Her baby was here…and her baby is remembered 🤍

I’m almost positive she will accept it with love and appreciation. But in the off chance she says she just can’t take it, don’t take it personally! Please consider donating the blanket in honor of her baby instead.

Contact your local hospital and ask if their Perinatal Bereavement Department accepts handmade blankets - these donations would go directly to families going through pregnancy loss, stillbirth and infant loss.

For families who don’t get to bring their babies home, these keepsakes can mean so much. It’s something they can hold onto and cherish forever ❤️

Thank you for reading. And if you are that mom going through this, I really hope you know how loved and special your baby is 🤍
