Yesterday’s “Don’t Buy Any School Supplies” Back-to-School Event was a HUGE success! 💚

Yesterday confirmed just how needed neuro-friendly spaces are for children and families. When a child is feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, or simply needs a break, having a space where they can regulate, reset, and feel supported can make all the difference.

I’m so grateful that I was able to provide that space yesterday, but even more grateful for the opportunity to connect with families, offer support and resources, and remind parents that they are not alone in this journey.

Teaming up with such an amazing group of people @holidaysinhollis Go Party on Demand and @hespeaksgentle to make this happen was incredible, and being able to do it right here in my own community made the experience truly indescribable.

One of my favorite things about advocacy is pouring into my students and watching them grow into advocates themselves.

This year, the Davison Avenue Ambassadors took on an ambitious project: researching and bringing awareness to the history of the former Woodfield Road School and its role in the Civil Rights Movement on Long Island. Through their dedication, research, and advocacy, their work helped lead to the installation of a commemorative sign recognizing this important chapter of our community’s history.

I hope you’ll join us in supporting these amazing 5th grade students and celebrating what they were able to accomplish for their community.

Honored to be presenting this afternoon at the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA) Annual Conference.

My presentation “I’m Not Making Excuses”: ADHD, Overwhelm, and Identity-Based Stress in Families, focuses on a topic that reflects much of the work I do with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating ADHD and the challenges that often come with it.

As a clinician and school social worker, I’m grateful for opportunities to contribute to conversations that help deepen understanding, reduce stigma, and support families more effectively.
