Galerie Myrtis invites you to experience 'Lavett Ballard: a Rose is a Rose is a Rose' during a special edition of Tea with Myrtis. This ticketed event will take place on Sunday, November 15th, from 2:30 to 4:00 pm, at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center (AWAACC). Go beyond the artwork as Ballard and curator Dr. Myrtis Bedolla share behind-the-scenes stories, artistic insights, and the ideas that inspired the Grand Staircase installation. Sip specialty teas, enjoy delectable treats, and take home more than a memory. Each ticket includes light refreshments and a professionally photographed keepsake portrait within the installation. Presented by UPMC and UPMC Health Plan. This edition of Tea with Myrtis is a partnership between AWAACC and Galerie Myrtis. Tickets are required to attend this special event. For tickets and inquiries, visit awaacc.org/events or call 412-339-1011. Image of Dr. Myrtis Bedolla courtesy photographer Grace Roselli, “Pandora’s BoxX Project” by @lavettballardarts

Galerie Myrtis is honored to announce that our Booth (F28) at the FUZE Caribbean Art Fair received the Best Choice Award for Outstanding Booth Presentation. This distinction was bestowed by the fair in recognition of excellence in curatorial vision and display. Our booth features the emotionally resonant mixed-media collages of Lavett Ballard and the richly layered figurative paintings of Damilare Jamiu Kanyinsola. Together, these works explore the theme of home as a space of memory, identity, protection, and collective care. The FUZE Caribbean Art Fair is being held through Sunday, October 25th, with daily operating hours from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, at the Baha Mar Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. I am happy to be included with my gallery peers in this upcoming exhibit: In celebration of its twentieth anniversary, Galerie Myrtis will present 'Stars and Stripes: Pride, Protest & Promise,' an exhibition examining the enduring symbolism of the American flag and the complex meanings of patriotism. An opening reception will take place on Friday, October 16th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. No registration is required to attend this free event. Stay tuned for additional details on upcoming exhibition programming. Marking both a significant milestone for Galerie Myrtis and a pivotal moment of national reflection, the exhibition coincides with the United States’ 250th anniversary. This historic occasion invites renewed consideration of the symbols, values, and narratives that have shaped the American experience—and of the ideals represented by the nation’s most enduring symbol: the American flag. Featured Artists: Devin Allen, Lavett Ballard, Wesley Clark, Connor Czora, Tawny Chatmon, Morel Doucet, Ya La’Ford, Jerrell Gibbs, Susan Goldman, Monica Ikegwu, Ronald Jackson, Fabiola Jean-Louis, M. Scott Johnson, Megan Lewis, Lex Marie, Kim Rice, James Seward, Felandus Thames, and Bria Sterling-Wilson. The exhibit will run October 16, 2026, through February 5, 2027, at 2224 N Charles St, Baltimore, MD. To schedule a viewing, please contact the gallery or Ky Vassor, Assistant Director, at ky@galeriemyrtis.com.
