15-20 years ago there was already a UK Latino movement being built from the ground up. 🇬🇧🇵🇷🇨🇴🇩🇴

For years, Carnaval del Pueblo in Burgess Park brought together thousands of people from across Latin America through music, culture and community — becoming one of Europe’s biggest Latin festivals.

At a time when YouTube was only just beginning, groups & individuals like Sangre Latina, JayP & Olimac, Flow Latino, NGR, and many more were already helping shape the foundations of UK Latino music.

This generation wasn’t just performing locally either.
Many went on to collaborate with major international Latin artists, open concerts for artists like Daddy Yankee and Pitbull, and helped connect London with Latin America long before the scene had real industry attention.

Organic fanbases.
Real crowds.
Real culture.

A lot of people only see today’s scene… but there was a generation laying foundations years before social media visibility and streaming platforms existed.

This post is for the pioneers.
The artists, DJs, producers, promoters and supporters who helped build UK Latino culture in London from the ground up.

Sold out shows...
success outside the UK - with barely any visibility at home.
The talent was never the problem.
The exposure was.
That’s about to change.
