Fabulous Memorial Day weekend at the Mississippi State match in Byhalia! @Smokin Guns at Rabbit Ridge was hosted by the Mississippi River Rangers and Hastings Holsters. We each got 2nd place in our categories, with me missing 1st place by 00.02 seconds! We did get best dressed Cowboy couple, but that’s all Shortcake. Plus Rowdy Burke had one cool cowboy hat! taken in Rabbit Ridge by @lawdog4369

Sometimes the best reminder of an old veteran is by a young veteran. Former USAF Michael Visione graduated this year from Belmont University in Nashville. Michael remembered his grandfather Dominic D Visione, USA 1951-53, by wearing his dog tag as he received his diploma. “Grandpa walked with me today” he told his family after he left the stage and displayed the dog tag. Not a dry eye to be found.
Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend. Remember our veterans! taken in Belmont University, Nashville Tennesse by @lawdog4369

Recently shot my first “Historic 3 Gun” match. You use firearms or replicas made from 1900-1945. There are several categories that cover this time period. I shot this in the “bootlegger “ category. My pistol was a 45 caliber Colt 1911, shotgun was a Winchester Model 12, and a 1927 A1 Thompson rifle. This match was 5 stages. Each stage was 28 rounds pistol, 8-10 rifle and 4-6 shotgun. Too hot for a full blown gangster suit and tie, but I did find a fedora! A great time. Thank you Bear Creek Volunteers for hosting this monthly match. taken in Branson, Missouri by @lawdog4369

Awesome time last weekend at the Tennessee State Black Powder Match in Memphis. I broke out my pair of Ruger Old Army pistols and got a good workout (3 pounds each, unloaded). I took 6th in Frontiersman category and SHORTCAKE took 2nd in Lady Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter. The night shoot was a blast although loading black powder in the dark was a bit challenging. Targets had fluorescent paint and were illuminated with black lights. A literal blast! taken in Memphis Sport Shooting Assoc. by @lawdog4369

On Bruno’s bucket list was to see a ballgame with Dad. We can do that. So Bruno, Nicole, Theo, Max, Sonny, Logan and Shortcake made a pilgrimage to 1060 West Addison in Chicago, AKA Wrigley Field to watch the Cardinals play the Cubs. The weather was fantastic, the beer was pricey but cold and the company couldn’t be beat. Shortcake and I got a “First Time to Wrigley” certificate (I was there 20 years ago, but why spoil the moment). It was given to us by a Cubs Ambassador. 7th inning stretch was 41,000 fans singing YMCA. A beautiful day with family and friends that will be fondly remembered. taken in Wrigley Field by @lawdog4369

In the Cowboy Action Shooting community there is an unofficial group that formed around 2010 called the Jedi Council that reviews participants shooting in the Gunfighter (two pistols shot simultaneously in both hands) category. Some of the criteria includes: Range Safety Officer status, proficiency in speed and accuracy, eagerly assisting during matches, state or regional titles, club activities and overall dedication to the spirit of the game. I am honored to announce that at the recent Black Gold match, the Jedi Council unanimously accepted me into their ranks as Jedi Gunfighter #379. taken in Manchester, Kentucky by @lawdog4369
