🚨 Applying for asylum, TPS, or a work permit? Some U.S. immigration fees are increasing on October 16, 2026.

USCIS announced inflation adjustments to certain immigration-related fees for fiscal year 2027.

Here are some changes to know about:
💵 Annual asylum fee: $102 → $105
🪪 Initial work permit for certain asylum applicants, parolees, or TPS applicants: $560 → $570
📄 TPS application (Form I-821): $510 → $520
✈️ Immigration parole fee: $1,020 → $1,050

📅 When do the new fees apply?
The updated fees apply to relevant applications postmarked on or after October 16, 2026.

⚠️ These changes do not apply to every immigration application or every applicant. Fees depend on the form, eligibility category, and applicable exceptions.

Before submitting your application:
✅ Confirm the correct fee for your specific form and category.
✅ Check the latest USCIS filing instructions.
✅ Make sure you submit the correct payment to avoid rejection.

🚨 The October 2026 Visa Bulletin is here — and some Green Card dates moved backward.

The U.S. Department of State published the October 2026 Visa Bulletin with updated dates for family- and employment-based immigrant categories.

⚠️ One important change this month: some employment-based categories for Mexico and other countries experienced retrogression, meaning certain Final Action Dates moved backward.

But there’s another important detail:
📅 For October 2026, eligible employment-based adjustment applicants can use the Dates for Filing chart.

For example, for EB-2 — Mexico & Rest of World:
🔹 Final Action Date: January 1, 2025
🔹 Dates for Filing: March 15, 2026
That difference matters.

👉 Some applicants who are not yet eligible for final Green Card approval may still be able to file Form I-485 if their priority date meets the applicable filing date and they otherwise qualify.

⚠️ Remember: Dates for Filing and Final Action Dates are not the same. One relates to when you may be able to file, while the other determines when a visa or Green Card can be finally issued.

🚨 Sponsoring a family member to immigrate to the U.S.? Check your Form I-864 before October 1.

USCIS has published a new edition of Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, with an edition date of 08/24/26.

📅 USCIS is allowing a grace period during September, but starting October 1, 2026, only the 08/24/26 edition will be accepted.

⚠️ The previous 10/17/24 edition will no longer be processed if submitted on or after October 1.

The new edition also includes a privacy authorization that allows USCIS to request information from one or more consumer reporting agencies.

💳 Have a credit freeze or security freeze?
USCIS warns that if the sponsor has a credit or security freeze, it may not be able to access the information needed to evaluate the I-864. To help avoid delays, the sponsor should respond promptly to any request to lift the freeze.

📌 Before submitting your I-864:
✅ Make sure you’re using the 08/24/26 edition
✅ Make sure all pages are from the same edition
✅ Carefully review the current filing instructions
