This is what it must feel like...to watch and help rear a tiny person into themselves. Before I ever held a camera with seriousness, she was my muse. The subject and object of everything that felt great about our family. I still wonder how did we get so lucky to have you intergrated into our lives.... you've given me so much joy and I couldn't believe how perfect someone could be until we were greeted by the miracle that you are. My small teacher in the ways of wonder, the reminder that life, even in its ordinary moments, can be extraordinary. That smile, that voice, the whole of who you are and the love I have for you is of God. Now she stands at the threshold of another chapter and a world ahead. Graduating in the top 10 of her class. And I want you to hear this and hold it close: Remember who you are. Remember how you have always been loved. There is no love greater than the love that shapes you from the inside out, that whispers truth into your heart even when the world tries to convince you otherwise. You have been seen. You have been cherished. You have always mattered. Remember you carry a light that no one could dim unless you allow them. And as you step forward, know that your life, your voice, your soul, is necessary in this world. My aunt is gone.And I don’t mean gone like people say when they don’t want to say the word dead. I mean gone in the way that makes the body finally understand it is not a metaphor. I mean gone in the way that makes a room feel dishonest, like it's pretending she might still walk back in and ask what's all the silence about.She was the first of my Grandma's children to leave this world and it's something unnatural about that sentence no matter how many times I say it. Her passing has torn through generations.I thought I was the first in the family to do it. Then grief showed me that decades before I ever lifted a camera, she was already preserving the world in her own way. Collecting moments, guarding memories, creating evidence that we were here, that we were loved and that we mattered. She had me beat by years and by stories. What hurts is not only her absence. It is watching her absence move through other people. Her sons. Her grandchildren. The family. The friends. The people who genuinely gave a damn about her. Grief travels. It passes from face to face like a storm looking for somewhere to rest...I AM DEVASTATED BY A PAIN THAT CAN ONLY TEACH YOU TRUTH ABOUT LOSS!!!I want to BELIEVE...that she's still here in her own way. In the stories repeated at our family gatherings. In resemblances that suddenly look like hers. In the photographs. In the memories. In the love the we feel so strongly for her.Death took her body. It did not take her claim on us. And if a person's legacy can be measured by the size of the hole they leave behind, then my G baby must have lived a life larger than so many. Because the silence she leaves is enormous, and the love she leaves is even bigger. 💞💓💗🕊️💝💕💖And It hurts in a way that proves she was here...GO ON GO HOME....WE LOVE YOU GRACE!!! by @lawrence_vs_law
