Visit the galleries to see GOAL! a group exhibition and create a paper jersey for our Community Jersey Wall.

Since 1930, the World Cup has been moving from country to country, bringing soccer fans from around the world together. For the first time since 1994, the United States is serving as a World Cup host. GOAL! is an exhibition celebrating the international soccer tournament and the welcome infusion of cultural diversity into the Midwest. Artists were given wooden jerseys and prompted to express what it means to them to be individuals while being a part of humanity.

Oops, we did it again! 🎶 Our final Summer Youth Theatre production, Once Upon a One More Time has moved to the main stage at Free State High School and you NEED to be there. This hilarious (and empowering!) juke box musical of Britney Spears top hits is the perfect cap to an amazing season. The SYT team has hit it out of the park with stunning costumes, top notch sets, and music numbers that will have you grooving in your seats.

Join Lawrence Arts Center Ceramics Artist-in-Residence Jason Wang for a guided tour of his current solo exhibition, Be-longing, where you’ll select a handmade ceramic cup and enjoy a curated tea tasting led by Ling-Lung Chen.

Central to Jason’s practice is an exploration of community and connection through tactile mark-making. His ceramic vessels serve as vehicles for bringing people together. Experience the exhibition through touch by drinking tea from a cup created in collaboration with members of the community.

Community members who participated in altering a cup will be invited to take home a different participant’s cup. Guests who did not contribute a cup are asked to leave theirs behind so that participating community members can pick them up from August 3-8.

Congratulations to the cast, crew, staff, and families for making the Summer Youth Theatre production of The Pied Piper of Hamelin such a success! This team pivoted quickly to change locations, moved sets and costumes, and reimagined this production with positivity and true commitment to 'the show must go on' frame of mind. We couldn't be more proud and are thankful for all those who cheered them on!

BUILDING UPDATE: As of July 18, the air conditioning remains out of service at 940 New Hampshire St. As our main building is owned by the City of Lawrence, repair timelines are not under our control. We are working closely with City staff to assist their efforts in fixing this problem as quickly as possible. Every effort has been made to keep programs running as much as possible while prioritizing the health & safety of our students and staff.

As we await a new AC control panel to arrive:
🔸 Room-based cooling units have been installed to make our studios as comfortable as possible.
🔸Common areas (such as lobbies, galleries, and bathrooms) are not serviced by these units, so we recommend light clothing and extra hydration while visiting us during this time.
🔸 Education Program Directors will be in touch directly with students and families if there are any changes to class schedules or locations. Otherwise, classes will proceed as planned.
🔸 Rehearsals and performances of the Summer Youth Theatre production of Once Upon a One More Time have been relocated to Free State High School (4700 Overland Dr.)
🔸 The Lawrence Dance Intensive has been relocated to the Robinson Center at the University of Kansas (1301 Sunnyside Ave.)
🔸 Classes and events scheduled for 10th & Mass Studios will proceed as planned.

We realize these circumstances are not ideal, and appreciate your understanding during this ongoing issue. It is a joy to make art with our community, and we are looking forward to a great week ahead! by @lawrenceartscenter

This week has been Restaurant Week in the Early Childhood summer program! Our youngest learners explored the culinary arts through mixing, measuring, and using simple kitchen tools. Thanks to support from @dccfoundation ‘s @livewell_douglascounty Community Wellness Grant, we were able to provide fresh ingredients for preschoolers as they explored making nutritious snacks like this yummy salsa. 🍅. by @lawrenceartscenter
