💥If you want to make an IMMEDIATE change the next time you step on the field, you have to ACT different. You have to DECIDE who you wanna be, and how you wanna carry yourself.

✅ Make decisive movements
✅ Speak up
✅ Carry yourself with confidence, head up, shoulders back, act like you belong

➡️ Others will treat you the way that you are acting/presenting yourself.

➡️ If you don't feel confident, act confident.. fake it til you make it.

📌 I'm not saying this is the best advice or the only advice, but it is my advice for a piece of the puzzle that most are not realizing.

➡️ The other side of this is the skill piece, which I talk about at the end. It's obviously important for you to develop the skills to execute after you have the ball, and in order to help get open more without it, etc, so make sure you stick around for that.

This game was just a clinic on how to get open off ball 🔥 .
.
✅ Watch #2 @chloehumphreyy as she toys with her defender.
✅ She runs, she stops/hesitates, kinda initiates a step left and then just darts right
➡️ Like you saw in previous posts, change of speed and change of direction are 🔑
➡️ Also just the overall deception and believability.
.
Just the little bit of space is enough to get your stick free
.
❇️ This FOOTWORK is a skill every player should never stop developing. You can never have enough quickness, agility skills 🔥

Covering cutters can be so many teams biggest defensive weakness. If you're having trouble, it's probably due to one, or all, of these 3 reasons.

Watch for what they are and how to get it right 💯

Kuddos @rutgerswomenslacrosse 👏👏

In following posts will show more examples of how to cover cutters in other scenarios as well, so be sure to follow along for that!

In order to play proper defense, especially off ball defense, you need to see plays DEVELOP, not just react to what's happening NOW.

Too many defenders get caught in the present moment, or only worried about the little area they are in, and aren't also paying attention to what's going on across the 8 or what's maybe coming in general.

Even if you're seeing ball and girl, you probably aren't paying enough attention to what's happening with the play.. you're probably reacting to things too late, rather than seeing what may come next and where that means YOU need to be.

I could talk so much about this, although I'm sure having some film examples will help, so I'm gonna try and find more of those to explain this, and show more scenarios where the defense does a great job, and talk about it from the perspective of what they probably SAW in order to do the thing that they needed to do.

Recruits can be found in many different places! There's also different reasons to be seen in these different places ⤵️

Coaches like to see players in their team environments at tournaments. They also like to be able to coach players one on one at smaller camps or their own prospect days. This allows them to see how coachable you actually are, or how quickly you can pick up and apply information, things like that.

Obviously, reaching out to coaches via email and letting them know you're interested and why all goes a long way.

The recruiting process can be a complicated and intimidating one at times, but it always helps to hear from college coaches a bit about their process too!

More to come on this topic soon!

NOTICE that set up!! ➡️ She knows where she wants to go and DRAGS her defender to the left in order to: 1) Open up more space on the right and 2) Get her defenders feet moving in the opposite direction.

🌟 She's literally setting herself up for exactly what she wants, both with field space and defender positioning.

✅ A dodge out of this could be a simple face or a hesitation like she does here. The change of speed you can really see in the second slow mo clip.

✅ Shot placement 💯 The goalie is dragged all the way over and she puts it in the lower opposite corner 👏👏

🔸From top to bottom, this shows extremely high Lax IQ as well as the skill to execute it 🔥@maggie_molnar @princetonwlax

📌 Add this to your arsenal and get out there and practice from the set up slide, to the dodge, to the shot 😃 Obviously this can be done to set up left hand as well!

Too many times players aren't actually working together (even if they think they are).

Step 1 in working together is actually LOOKING at each other, and communicating with each other 👀

So many players I've seen in a 2 man games are barely even acknowledging each other, outside of just kind of running around, cutting in and out/picking randomly.

There is somewhat of an art to it at the higher levels, but to get started, you just need to be more aware, and communicate/work together more.

Listen here for ways you can help get much more success in your 2 man games! Whether working off ball, or with the ball 👏

Talking to your phone, by yourself, in the car.. the same way you would talk to your players on a field, in the moment, in the middle of practice.. is not easy 😜

Gonna keep trying 😅

Usually once I get going I can just get into coach mode and talk naturally, but starting is always the hardest part!

I've also gotten better. Hopefully will continue to.. Like anything, I've had to just keep trying, even if I kinda sucked at the beginning (If you look back to earlier videos, it's way worse 💀)

❇️ If it's any inspo to you, who cares if you suck, who cares if you look stupid or feel embarrassed.. If you love it, or want to do it for whatever reason.. do it anyway! It's hard.. but hey if it was easy, everyone would do it.

And if other people are judging you, it's probably bc it's bringing up some insecurity of their own. Others judgements is not about you. It's about them. Remember that.

➡️ Plus if you want the rest of this video on the actual topic at hand.. follow for that coming soon 😃

Ps. Do me a favor.. If you like my content, please feel free to comment or shoot me a DM letting me know your fav stuff so I can keep trying to show up in the best ways.. just out here trying to share some of what I've learned to help others get better as well :) Appreciate all the love 💙

Stop giving up so easy! No more "ugh it's not working," or "ugh they know what we're doing" .. it doesn't matter! You keep working, eventually they'll probably break down ⬇️

Watch til the end for more tips and context 💯

👉 In Part 2 we'll talk about the 2nd reason your 2 man game may not be working, so follow along for that!

And by man, I mean MAN or woMAN! Just using man for short 😊

You see pony tail, YOU GO!! ➡️ This also requires a certain level of Lax IQ/awareness 💡

It's the reason you need to see the entire field, not just be seeing where your own team/players are, but be noticing what the defense is doing too (so that you can play off of it AND take advantage of it!) 👏💯

🔹 If you/your team want to practice this, especially to help them open up their awareness more - just set up a feeder, a cutter, and one defender just on the cutter to start.
➡️ Have the defender sometimes look away on purpose (to open the back door opportunity), and sometimes not. ➡️ This will allow the attacker to start paying more attention to their defense, having to read them, and make decisions accordingly 👏

If you're a basketball player, this probably comes easy to you, which is just another reason playing multiple sports is so great 🏀🙌

✅ In Part 2, we'll talk about the defensive perspective and had to not let this happen to you! 👏
