Sushila Karki was just sworn in as Nepal’s first female Prime Minister via discord 🤯. A historic breakthrough in a country where women have long suffered extreme violence, discrimination, and exclusion from power. Nepal just made history. After a week of bloody protests over corruption, social media bans, and government abuse, Gen-Z activists took to the streets—and to Discord—to demand change. Thousands died, many were injured, and the old guard under PM K.P. Sharma Oli resigned. Parliament was dissolved. In the chaos, youth organizers created a Discord server with over 145,000 members to hold polls and debates to nominate potential interim leaders. From that virtual community, the name that kept rising was Sushila Karki — former Chief Justice, known for standing up to corruption, respected and trusted.

From Daisy Chain Fields to NYC’s GIRL NOISE, women are taking it upon themselves to create the kinds of music spaces they’ve been looking for: places where they can dance, let loose and enjoy a show without spending the night watching their drinks or worrying about getting home.

“I was looking for a space to feel that kind of community and feel that energy, of mutual understanding and freedom to be yourself and fully express yourself,” GIRL NOISE founder Simone told LAYDY. “I came to the conclusion that the places where I feel like that the most are around women.”

GIRL NOISE brings an all-girl lineup to NYC on October 4, with a portion of proceeds going to @thebravehouse

last night at Daisy Chain Fields Festival Melinda French Gates joined Olivia Rodrigo onstage and announced that she would match the $10 million donation through Pivotal Ventures.

That brings the total raised by the festival to $20 million.

The money will be distributed equally among 10 organizations, including Planned Parenthood, the National Women’s Law Center, the Center for Reproductive Rights, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, FreeFrom, the National Domestic Workers Alliance and others working on reproductive health, maternal health, gender-based violence, economic security and gender justice.

The inaugural Daisy Chain Fields, held Saturday in Irvine, California, featured an all-women lineup that included Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Bikini Kill, The Breeders, Garbage and Stevie Nicks.
