Art is my meditation. I layer and work and rework my picture. I use paints, pen, collage. I am drawn to circles and botanical imagery. No NFTs

A little art for everyone: these are the ATCs my daughter is giving away at a festival, no strings attached, just small handmade pieces passed into new hands. Art doesn't have to be bought to be shared. #ATC #artisttradingcards #artforeveryone #mixedmediaart taken in Deer Shed Festival by @layeredpen

Final layers added to these ATCs, working with a limited range of pens while I'm away, but sometimes constraints push the best decisions. #ATC #artisttradingcards #mixedmedia #travelart

On ATCs, for anyone who wants the background:
Artist Trading Cards started in 1997, when Swiss artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann held an exhibition in Zurich and invited people to swap small, original artworks the size of standard trading cards, 2.5 x 3.5 inches. The idea borrowed from sports card culture, but instead of collecting mass-produced cards, artists made one-off originals and traded them hand to hand, no money involved.
ACEOs (Art Cards, Editions and Originals) came along later as the sellable cousin of the ATC. Same size, same format, but made for buying and selling on platforms like eBay rather than swapping in person, since traditional ATCs are meant to be traded, not sold. by @layeredpen

Making the backgrounds 🎨
Every card starts here, gel plate printing straight onto pages from a found children's book, building up texture and colour before any collage, pen or ink goes on top. I love not knowing exactly how each pull will turn out, it's part of what makes every finished card genuinely one-of-a-kind.
These will become the base layers for the next batch of my mimi originals, more to come soon.

Once Upon a Time 🌙
This one took a different turn from the botanicals, built from a monoprint base and finished with pen over a fragment of a vintage storybook page, "once upon a time, there was a little fellow called..." Some of that original text is still visible under the paint.
Part of my Layered Pen summer collection. Original, one-of-a-kind, 2.5x3.5", signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Available now on eBay, link in bio. Open to ATC swaps too, just message me.

The start of my tiny original collection 🌿

Each of these little pieces began life as a monoprint pulled straight from the plate, then layered with collage (including salvaged pages from a 1950s comic annual) and finished with hand-drawn pen work. Every one is a true one-off. No two will ever be the same.
They're made to the standard ACEO size, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, so they slot straight into a collector's sleeve or a small frame. Small enough to hold in your palm, but they still carry all the layering and colour of my larger work.

Available now on eBay, link in bio. All cards are also open to ATC swaps, I'm building my own collection too, so DM me if you'd rather trade and I'll mark it as sold on eBay.

More little originals coming through the summer.

It's difficult to find balance in life sometimes. I have a busy day job, and my artwork is often one of the first things to go in the hectic pace of it all.
Now I'm on my summer holidays from school, and it's given me a chance to think about drawing, painting and printmaking again. But before I do that, I'm having a bit of a sort out, gathering and sorting my materials ready to print on.
Watch this space, as I'll be producing some little artist trading cards, or ACEOs to be more precise. I hope to share the process here.
