POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
You'll have seen this so many times before, Yes, we not the only ones to win the world cup, but it's been 1 year since, and we all have a story to tell:
I don't want to make this about me, but here goes:
I left my career, in the middle of my articles of fulfilling my own dream of becoming a Chartered accountant. People laughed at me and still do.
Yes, I left for rugby. I left to back my husband. I witnessed all his crit, all the Springbok call ups, camps, long tours , but never getting selected. I witnessed all the great seasons, but still no Springbok debut. Because of size.
I witnessed how this Man still perseveres and still puts his all on that field every time despite it all. I cant explain what a roller coaster these past few years has been. To just see him be a part of such a phenomenal squad was one of the proudest moments for me. The world cup was one of the best yet emotional experiences. We were one if not the only team that got to share the hotel room with our partners. Yor, how we prayed in hotel rooms, we were in their space maybe a bit too much so we would wonder the streets of Japan sometimes till late at night alone (Japan was amazing though so not complaining), I saw him ice and ice that sore ankle, we thought we might be going home before the final, I saw him so down, spending hours in the physio room every day, coming back to room still sore and still just so down. So we just prayed more and more. We grew so strong as family and as a team. Shoo!!! I cant even explain how different this is for us, as a family, as a team and for our nation. We needed this. Through it all, no CA qualification could have ever replaced witnessing not only Cheslin make it, But witnessing a nation with so many underprivileges and heartache, witnessing hundreds of kids in townships running freely with joy and hope, videos of bars packed and people singing "OLÉ" arm in arm, streets packed with people from all backgrounds- all together in unity!!! All Celebrating this victory. That is flippen special 😭
This just brought a little bit of Hope that our country can still be great. I believe. The best is yet to come SOUTH AFRICA. UNITE!!! 🇿🇦 taken in Tokyo, Japan by @layla_kolbe

My story of 2 consecutive (surgical) miscarriages. I am not one to post too much about my personal life and I was contemplating it, and perhaps many will judge me for this, and yes many of you will be hearing about this for the first time because it is personal and I didn't think I needed to share it with the world, but I feel like God has made me this strong for a reason. Yes I am hurt, heartbroken, confused, scared and the list goes on, (prayer is so, so powerful)
But it has been on my heart to reach out to those that might have been in a similar situation.
I just came out of theatre and while I am laying here I thought I'd let everyone in on my journey thus far. Bear with me I am still a bit drowsy. I am not posting this for any pity, but I always get asked when is the next one coming- so here goes: swipe left taken in Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital by @layla_kolbe

Here we are again.

I don’t want to say too much but the enemy is definitely working overtime and we rebuke and cancel it in Jesus name.
We serve a mighty miracle-working God who is greater than anything that comes against us.

So today we speak the Blood of Jesus over Cheslin, his body, his recovery and our family. We declare protection, healing, restoration and strength over him.

What the enemy meant for harm God can turn for good. We choose faith over fear. Always. 🙏🏽

And in the middle of it all I couldn’t be prouder of Kylah and her girls for pushing through such a long day and claiming the win to end off her dance season for the year. 🏆❤️

And to the Bokke-they always seem to fight even harder when they’re thrown into the deep end. What a team. What a fight.💚💛

God is good. Always. 🙏🏽 taken in Johannesburg by @layla_kolbe

Life on the sidelines. 💚💛🇿🇦

People see the 80 minutes. We live everything in between.

They see the crowds, the anthem, the victories and the milestones. They don’t always see the birthdays celebrated without Dad. The school concerts, sports days, Father’s Day school activities, bedtime routines, supper times and all the ordinary moments that happen while he’s away.
For much of the year, I hold the fort at home.
Our TV is almost always on rugby.
We watch old matches, highlights and YouTube clips of Dad. It’s our way of keeping him close when he’s far away and helping them understand why Dad isn’t always home.

There are moments you wish he could be at every birthday, every school match, every ordinary Tuesday.

Then there are the other parts people don’t see.

The criticism. The headlines. The comments. The trolls. It’s easy to forget there’s a husband, a father, children and a family reading those words too. People see one performance. We see the hours of preparation, the injuries, the sacrifices, the pressure and the heart behind every time he pulls on that jersey.

Here’s to 50 and to many more! Because with God all things are possible! 🙏🏽 by @layla_kolbe

Fifty caps in the green and gold. A career built on brilliance on the biggest stages in the world, raising the standard every time he stepped onto the field.

To honour that journey, Avante has partnered with Cheslin on a fifteen-year XV Cape Potstill Brandy, released in just fifty individually numbered bottles, each personally signed by him.

A career worth honouring, in a spirit worthy of it. All net proceeds will be donated to the Cheslin Kolbe Foundation by @layla_kolbe

9 years abroad.
3 years in 2 countries- living 24hours apart- solo parenting
Countless memories.
This move comes with sacrifice, but some sacrifices are worth making. Time is the one thing we can never get back and we’ve chosen to invest it where it matters most.

Leaving Japan is breaking our hearts a little. We loved this chapter more than words can say.

But sometimes life calls you home and we’re choosing to be closer to family and the moments that matter most.

Japan, thank you for everything.

Not goodbye.
See you again one day. ❤️🇯🇵🇿🇦 taken in Tokyo, Japan by @layla_kolbe

Some goodbyes never get easier. 😣💛

Watching our kids say goodbye to their dad at Tokyo airport broke us all over again. Japan gave our family some of the happiest, most beautiful memories we could have asked for. I’ve never felt so free anywhere in the world before and seeing our children live so freely and happily here is something we will treasure forever.

But in the end, time together matters more than anything. The everyday moments. School pickups, birthday parties, bedtime cuddles, milestones, the little things that become the big things. These are the years you never get back.

So while leaving Japan is incredibly emotional for us, we know this decision was made from love and truly being obedient to God’s calling. Choosing family, choosing presence, choosing to be together for these precious years of our children’s lives.

Here’s to new memories back home and hopefully one day, we’ll return to Japan together as a family again - older, wiser and with even more appreciation for the place that gave us so much.

To Japan and the Japanese community, thank you for welcoming us so warmly. You gave our family memories that will stay in our hearts forever.
Japan always has our heart and Suntory Sungoliath family forever 💛 @sungoliath_official
