when my biological dad passed 4 years ago, i found myself asking a lot of questions that seem to have made their way back into my life these past few months

"God why?"

"what's the point of any of this?"

"i would abandon my faith, but i have nowhere else to go"

"is this just how things are now?"

these past weeks, the questions got louder, my faith seemed to shrivel, & i felt backed into a corner. the opposing feelings of

"i am weary with my crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God" (psalm 69:3)
&
"Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God." (john 6:67-69)

i know too much of who God is to walk away,
& yet the numbness is too deafening to keep walking

i've learned the blood doesn't exempt you from the human experience, but pardons you of guilt & seperation from Him. & as i'm learning to endure, He's inviting you to do the same.

looking back on that grief, it's so easy to say how grateful i am for it. through my dad's death, i was led to be made alive in Christ. so i know that this too will be turned into something immensely beautiful.

hope Himself is waiting, with the porch light on, & arms open wide for your return. (luke 15:18-24)

my generation's attention span is squat, so if you've read up to here, i hope this written break from my, and everyone else's, highlight reel of their life was a reminder that to be in Christ is to suffer as Christ did

and what an honorable thing that is
