There are some moments that feel like life brings you back to where it all began. Performing at @chreeceaf with @layloxo_ this weekend was one of those moments. 🥹🤍

I was born + raised on the east side of Indianapolis & homeschooled through most of my youth. There weren’t many kids around, so when a new family moved in down the street, I practically camped out trying to see if they had kids. 😂 I saw little Lauren with her siblings & decided before we ever spoke that she was going to be my friend. She was!! Most days I counted down the time until she got off the bus!!

We spent HOURS outside or playing in their basement while I tried to peep what her older siblings were doing because I thought they were the coolest. Some of my earliest memories of music are down there watching music videos with them.

Somewhere along the way, my little bestie down the street became @layloxo_

Young Lauren was bright, bubbly, full of personality + never took anyone’s BS. 😂 She had a light about her even then.

This weekend, standing behind the DJ booth during her @chreeceaf set, surrounded by incredible Indiana artists, I saw that same little girl again. Her dimples popping as she bounced around introducing herself, encouraging other artists + making people feel seen!!

Her light hasn’t changed. It has just grown!

There are people who can perform for a room, & then there are people who can reach one. Laylo, your music, message + spirit meet people exactly where they are.. in their joy, pain, growth + everything between. That’s a gift you can’t teach!!

From 2 little girls on the east side playing outside until we had to go home… to sharing a stage at a Naptown hip-hop festival with some legends. 🥹

SO PROUD OF YOU, @layloxo_ . Being part of your shows + watching rooms experience the same bright light I found down the street all those years ago means more than I can say.

Keep shining. The world needs what you carry. ✨

& NO we did NOT plan to twin this hard we showed up, saw each other & laughed! That’s on being in sync 🤣

Singer-songwriter @layloxo_ , from Indianapolis,IN, has always been surrounded by music thanks to her family’s strong musical background. Growing up, she found inspiration in the soulful sounds of gospel, jazz, and soul music. Gospel’s uplifting messages shaped her lyrics, while jazz encouraged her to embrace spontaneity in her creativity. With these influences, LayLo crafts music that feels personal and genuine, reflecting her journey and passion as an artist. taken in Fountain Square, Indianapolis by @layloxo_
