I am at last going through my photos from a weeks long road trip to @glaciernps with @rrohanah. Instead of saving the best for last, here it is. On the walk home from the train station this afternoon I came across some gray catbirds who were out and about. Had to hurry and fetch my camera since they were not shy and that is a big help when you don't have the most telephoto of lenses.

Six weeks ago I had a thought that perhaps training for a marathon was harder than running said marathon. Having never run a marathon before I could not know that for certain. It turns out, at least for me, my intuition was correct.

This medal was earned by running 26.2 miles. I finished in 4 hours, 29 minutes, and 24 seconds. It may not be a good time but it is my time.

Behind this accomplishment is 514 miles. 113 runs since February. Not to mention the years of running that preceded the decision to train for a marathon.

At some point during the course of a marathon it becomes a mental test to endure. To keep going. The same can be said of the training. At some point you have to decide to keep getting up and putting in the miles.

I ran this marathon by myself, just as I trained, but it would be a grave error to not acknowledge the support from all my friends and family. In particular those who were there to cheer me on when the day came, whether in person or from afar. Thank you all.
