Even in autumn, the garden can provide a lot of beauty before nature goes into winter hibernation. There's different Aster species, Linaria, Echinacea, Arnica, Calamintha and Sedum for once but there's really no end to it if you pick the perennials wisely. Make sure they're useful for the insects and no threat to your local and regional ecosystem. by @lazyorchids

BC Amethyst #bcamethyst the beautiful Habitus of a brassavola with a stunning color. [Unfortunately no scent though.] Edit: correction it does have a scent. Similar to my David Sander after a few days it does become scenty and reminds me of a sweet citrus flower. I probably didn't notice before because I don't get up in the night regularly enough 😏 by @lazyorchids

Brassavola nodosa aka the living perfume dispenser. You definitely don't need any air freshener spray with this guy around . The scent is quite heavy and sweet #brassavolanodosa by @lazyorchids

European hedgehogs are useful little garden helpers. These tiny guys are cute to look at but they're not for cuddling. Lots of spikes for defense and they are shy. They eat all sorts of stuff, snails, slugs, lots of insects, seeds and even dead rodents like mice. by @lazyorchids

A closer look. What appears to be a common roadside weed for many people, can be really pretty if you take a closer look. A lot of native plants are not really considered ornamental because they just exist everywhere. But why can't we take a moment to see their beauty? Native plants have a lot of benefits too. They rarely need care or protection or fertilizer because they are already used to our local ecosystem and climate. This one is cichorium intybus the common chicory. A perfect background plant in the garden, a robust perennial and it makes bees and bumblebees very happy and you can even eat the young leaves as lettuce or like spinach vegetable. #cichoriumintybus

In German we call this plant 'Wegwarte' and it means path waiter since it is growing alongside walking paths a lot and waits for you to pass by. by @lazyorchids

Very grateful to the Philippines for this jewel. In my not so humble opinion, Victoria R can go f off - this beauty tops it easily. The veins and patterns, little freckles and the changing shades of purple amaze me every time I look at the flowers and with no effort this species flowers nonstop and is super easy to care for. Only weakness: mites love this dendrobium as much as I do. #dendrobiumceraula #philippines #dendrobiumvictoriareginae #purpleflowers💜 #orchid by @lazyorchids

The peasant of the orchid world, a phalaenopsis hybrid. When I was a teenager, these guys were my test subjects. Practically indestructible and very grateful for every watering repotting and fertilizing. But eventually they were boring to me and I looked at all the other orchids. But this one was gifted to me by a relative a couple years ago so I have to take care of it until it (never😩) dies 😅 🫣 by @lazyorchids
