“Rather than adding, we prefer to take away. We are always about rigor, clean lines, and crisp volumes. It is not easy to explain this concept, you know that sense of serenity you feel when looking at something beautiful and flawless? We are "omnivorous" because we are always ready to listen to everyone. Every client has a very precise wish, and you have to know how to decode it”

ICEBERGS BAR AND KITCHEN
Thrilled to have received the first prize in the Design and New Applications category of the @ceramicsofitaly Tile Competition at @cersaie 2026, for the project ‘Icebergs Bar and Kitchen’ at Sydney Airport T3, featuring tiles by @Pecchiolifirenze.

The custom hand-glazed tiles by Pecchioli introduce a tactile material richness, their subtle variations in tone and pattern evoke the movement and depth of coastal waters. They are used to clad the bar benches and the long tables, as well as the tops of round dining tables made from a singular piece.

Its identity is expressed through materiality, light and spatial rhythm – creating a calm, immersive environment that adapts the Icebergs brand for travellers in motion.
Within a palette of understated materials, the artisanal character and nuanced surface variations of the tiles emerge as a distinctive, defining feature of the space.

The design of Icebergs Bar and Kitchen at Sydney Airport T3 embraces the constant movement of the airport, creating moments of pause and stillness. Fluid forms, layered spaces and moments of enclosure establish a calm spatial rhythm

Among the several leitmotifs that have informed and shaped our work over the years is the use of decorative tiles. More than simply a finish, they become an expressive element of decoration and art, playing an integral role in the overall concept of certain projects.
Giuseppe Arnaldo & Sons Restaurant [Australia, 2008]
At this project in Melbourne, handmade Sicilian tiles, traditionally used outdoors, become a defining element of the interior. They are deliberately decontextualized and applied throughout the restaurant, wrapping across floors, walls and ceilings to form a series of intimate dining pods. Their vivid colours and tactile surfaces function as more than a finish, becoming an architectural and scenographic device that creates a visual identity that extends throughout the space, bringing a distinctly Italian character into dialogue with the contemporary Melbourne setting.

Spa in Beirut [Lebanon, 2016]
At this spa project in Beirut, traditional Lebanese architecture is reinterpreted through a contemporary language, with ceramic tiles becoming one of the project’s defining elements. Used as an architectural skin, the tiles cover the surfaces of the vaults – both externally and on their undersides – as well as walls and pools. Decorated with historic motifs, their vivid colours and intricate patterns establish a dialogue between local architectural traditions and contemporary spatial interventions, connecting the spa’s new volumes to the cultural and historical character of the existing stone building.

Villa in Positano [Italy, 2004]
For this project, the clients did not want art that can be stolen in their holiday house. The use of decorative tiles offered a way to integrate art directly into the architecture, becoming part of the fabric of the house itself. A wide variety of antique ceramic tiles were sourced and carefully selected. Their graphic figures and patina evoke the genius loci, while introducing a contemporary presence that gives the house its own distinctive visual identity.

Tiles: Antique tiles sourced through Ceramiche Tarulli, Ceramiche Vietresi, Ceramiche D’Amato
