Oct 15: Well would you look at that, our little baby (LB) is all grown up. LB is officially turning one year old this Thursday, October 15th!

It's wild to think we started out as just a few friends swapping songs around a backyard firepit after open mic nights. When the weather turned cold and rainy last year, we moved down into the basement, stocked up the bar, set up a proper stage, and hosted our first indoor gig with @sdotreidy, @freefoolish, and @dandanthespaceman. We've kept the lights on almost every Thursday since. Across all the shows, we’ve had over 120 artists perform on our stage, and paid them a collective total of ~$5000. Pretty proud of that.

To celebrate, we are throwing a MASSIVE community anniversary ✨potluck✨ and open stage! We'll have a few scheduled musicians starting the night off, and then the stage opens up to anyone and everyone.

Bring a bottle of wine, a case of beer, a dish of potato salad or whatever snacks you love to share, grab your instruments, and come hang out in the coziest basement in Dutchtown. Normal beverage selection and good vibes guaranteed.

Oct 8: Darlings, you must fight for your life because if you don't arrive here precisely at 7:30pm you may die miserable knowing you missed this show.

We will have a glorious evening of live music performed by some St. Louis's finest community members.

We will be cooking up some delicious food, pouring your favorite drinks, and having long talks around the firepit.

ALSO, I hear it's @the_anumaly's birthday and that he will be celebrating with us, so come by and wish your favorite comedian another happy turn around the sun.

Oct 3: Saturday night dance party coming in hot. Our buddies @damirdj_ @areseeayy and @manapool_ reached out to us when the original venue for Gamut Vol. 3 informed them that they couldn't host the show. Major bummer, but we are happy step in!

This amazing group of DJs will be spinning some banging tunes in our Dutchtown speakeasy. @lanparty.stl and @glitchgathering will be showing out as well.

Sorry for the last minute notice, but we'd love for you to come join us. Show goes from 9pm until late late.

Thu Oct 1: Yoooo... We got a heck of a lineup for Thursday! Five great musical acts taking the stage.

We are excited to welcome to the stage: KON (aka the artist who painted the "Life's Beautiful" owl sign at our front door), CLAIREZEE doing a special DJ set, touring act CATZAP!, local band THE FACE (featuring Ian, aka the drummer from Voices Like Shadows), and ending the night with the musical stylings of DIEJESSEDIE.

For food we will have a delicious Chana Masala plate (aka chickpea curry, vegan), and our normal selection of beverages and mellow vibes.

Wed Sept 30: Hey everyone get ready for an exciting night of comedy again this Wednesday. AND A SPECIAL 🎶 KARAOKE HAPPY HOUR 🎶 BEFORE HAND!!! >:

We are opening the doors a bit earlier on Wednesday to bring music and chill vibes to your early evening. Starting at 5pm we'll have drink specials, and a karaoke rig set up to get the night rolling. After that at 9pm we'll have another amazing and hilarious comedy showcase and open mic until close.

Maybe a firepit too? And of course some delicious food and bevvies. See you then?

Sep 17: Dang, would you look at that, we've got a double-Dan extravaganza billed for this Thursday.

Excited to welcome to the stage Dan C. Roth w/ the amazing violin stylings of Susan Gottschall, as well as Dan the Spaceman, our favorite silver-suit wearing synth wrangler. It's unclear if there are additional Dan's contained within the Boxfort or Urban Volume collectives, but we suspect there is at least one. Come find out for yourself on Thursday night! Bring your favorite Dan and get dan(gerous) on the dan(ce) floor.

For food we will be featuring a cuban Mojo Pork & Chicken plate, and as per usual we will have plenty of cold beverages to whet your whistle wit'. (Dan)'t say I di(dan)t invite yah.

Sep 16: Get ready to descend into the depths of your mind, or at least into the depths of our next Laugh Basement show.

This Wednesday night we will welcome Enzo Nitti, Sakoia, and Larry Greene to the stage, as well as our amazing hosts, Dane Coulter and Andres Mendoza... and maybe you? Open mic happens after the main show.

We'll have delicious drinks and tasty food at the bar, and plenty of napkins for when you accidentally laugh right in the middle of taking a sip.

Sep 10: get ready to rock out with us on Thursday. we've got some hard hitting bands that will shake yer bones and also the basement's foundations. so excited to see my old friend Gabe from Killer Burke try to fit under the ducting (he's tall and our ceilings are low). they will be joined by a red hot lineup including mass arrest, cave fight, cerebral anomaly, maeric moore, and jeremy cullen.

heatwave be damned, the AC is blowing cold, and we have ear plugs and cold beer available at the bar. we will also have our normal complement of fancy beverages and will be serving up plates of red beans and rice.

did you know it's National Come Hang Out at LB Day (i just decided) and so if you bring some firewood to get the firepit going, i'll give ya a free beverage.

also you may have heard that one of South City's finest drove directly into the front door of Heavy Anchor. here i thought we got all the fun happenings over here in Dutchtown. anyhoo, we love what those folks do for the music community bunches and so we will also be collecting monetary donations to support Heavy Anchor's recovery, and will match any funds donated. there will be a dedicated cash bucket for Heavy Anchor and if you want to do Venmo/CashApp just mention what it's for in the comment. i'll total it up, and then match it and send it over to them on Monday.

Sep 3: This week at LB we are bringing you a rare double-feature billing. Catch live sets from AVOL and hankdufflebags, followed by touring comedian Ronaldo Mercado along with a surprise showcase of our best local chuckleheads.

This week also marks the beginning of a new astrolo-culinary event: National Chicken Month. Have you considered that maybe your National Food Month might say more about you than your zodiac sign? For example, I'm an Aries. Boring. But I'm also born under the sign of National Grilled Cheese Month. That feels much more appropriate, don't you think? I definitely identify more with grilled cheese than with the headstrong ram. But I digress.

We are kicking off this monumental culinary moon phase with a delicious take on Sichuan's famous Bang Bang Chicken. Expect lean chicken breast tossed in a rich, savory chili oil and peanut butter sauce, finished with cilantro and crushed peanuts. To balance out the heat, we are pairing it with a crisp side of cold cucumber salad.

Doors open late. Come for the music, stay for the jokes, or just show up to watch us celebrate arbitrary food holidays. When you come by, don't forget to ask the bartender (me) what your food zodiac sign is, and humbly consider changing your entire identity to match. See you there!
