Colourful Parachutes @thepowerplantto

“What sort of world are you boxing and wrapping for future generations? You keep talking about another world, but have you asked the generations of tomorrow if the world you’re building is the world they want?”

Ailton Krenak, Ideas to Postpone the End of the World (2019), Brazilian Indigenous philosopher and environmental activist

IMAGINING ALTERNATIVE FUTURES THROUGH THE POWER OF PLAY

Claire Greenshaw, Leisure (Meredith Carruthers & Susannah Wesley), Sassa Linklater, Tobias Linklater, Ana Mendieta, Rivane Neuenschwander, Harold Offeh, Temitayo Ogunbiyi, and Robin Rhode

A key theme underlying Colourful Parachutes is the relationship young people have to the future. Many of the works in the exhibition touch on the vital importance of fostering a connection to the natural world during childhood, the increasing sense of eco-anxiety carried by young people, and how to advocate for child-led environmental activism.

Such a happy supporter of @wearthepeace as a means to demonstrate solidarity with Palestinian Liberation and keep people engaged with fighting to end the genocide! All of the profits support smaller Palestinian organizations that may not be immediately visible. My community knows that smaller on the ground organizations are absolutely critical to liberatory action!! Join me and check them out!! #freepalestine 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸 by @lbeller

“What does the West Mean to You” at the @ncartmuseum was an important show challenging perception of how we see the American West asking us to question representation through the eyes of the Indigenous community, colonialism and white supremacy, and Blackness. by @lbeller

This video was taken with permission. A beautiful moment at the NC Museum of Art. This swing set plays different musical notes for each swing creates a lovely alternating set of songs as people transition on and off the set. There was a kind of transcendent message about humanity and joy in to all so I wanted to share. by @lbeller
