Teacher appreciation night at the volleyball game last night. What made me so happy is that Rhett wanted to choose several teachers. He chose Lex, the newest Athletic Trainer to join MHS. Coach Smith gave him a hard time about not choosing her so I got a cute pic of her pouting and then I got a good one of them. The team has been so great to him and he has absolutely loved working his first sport in high school. I can’t explain the feeling of watching other adults pour into and love on your child when they are doing something new. by @lbs4life

I do remember where I was 25 years ago. As I watched the events unfold with my roommate I knew our country would never be the same and I cried and prayed so hard thinking about all those lives lost. I will never forget.
However, I also know where I was 12 years ago today. Nurses and other hospital employees kept asking if I was ok with having my baby boy on 9/11. My tearful response was “yes, I know he will forever be a reason to be joyful on this day.” Man was that the understatement of forever! Rhody is JOY personified. I am so blessed God chose me to be his mama. That is not just another saying, I mean it with everything in my heart and soul. He is so precious with a heart so empathetic and loving. He yearns to know more about Jesus and live his life in a way that reflects the Lord. Even as he is growing up, he still needs his mama and I’m so grateful for that. He makes me proud by doing some pretty big things but it’s also in the tiniest of ways as well. I pray that God will continue to use JD and I to encourage him to be who God has made him to be and never let his bright light dim. I love this kid so much. Happy 12th Birthday to my sunshine.

Today is her day! Happy Birthday to a remarkable human! She is so very precious to our whole family. She has been Jojo since Rhett was born and the boys think of her as their second mama. That’s mostly because she spoils them and loves them like their own. For that I will never be able to thank her enough. She loves God and her family and is extremely servant hearted. I am very blessed she calls me friend and I treasure the fact that we get to do this crazy life together. I love you Jordan. You are an amazing woman in all the ways. God has given you so many gifts and you use them all to His glory. You deserve to be celebrated all the time but I hope you felt special today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOJO! by @lbs4life

I started my 4th year teaching Kindergarten at WPA this past week. I have a full class of sweet kiddos and we are there for a full day this year! I’m excited to have more time to teach them academics, life skills, but more importantly how to live and love like Jesus. I have a few things left on my wish list if you would like to contribute to my classroom. We also get to have center time this year and I can’t wait for them to have the opportunity to listen to books on CDs. This was one of Rhett and Rhody’s favorite things to do and I know it helps with early reading readiness. Even if you can’t contribute I would love your prayers. I have 12 sweet kiddos and families that you can pray for throughout the year. ❤️💙

First year of middle school and first year of high school. It was an emotional morning for this mama. I am so proud of them and love them so much. I read them Matthew 5:14-16 and reminded them to be a light in their “mission field” at their schools. I couldn’t get all the words out without crying so JD prayed and we let Rhett out at the training room then took Rhody to middle school where he had a hard time actually walking away. Oh my heart. As I’m getting ready for bed and my first day back tomorrow I’m a little teary. Life always seems to go by so fast. I’m never one that says “I can’t wait for school to start back.” Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE teaching and making relationships with my tiny humans, but I love these three humans in this picture so very much. I love laughing, relaxing mornings, late night movies, pool days, and random days to do random things. Although their summers are also getting busier with age, we still have lazy days to just spend time. I love my guys and can’t believe I only have 4 more summers with Rhett before moving him to college. 😭 In the same breath, it’s so fun to have a front row seat to the amazing things God is allowing us to see them do. Some great pics from our trip to TN. One of the first things I tell people when I meet them is “I don’t like Mexican food.” That’s an important fact because they need to decide whether or not they want to continue to invest in the friendship. It’s a big deal here. 🙄 These pictures show the biggest reason my tastebuds didn’t have a lot exposure to Mexican food growing up. We grew most of our food in the garden behind my grandparents’ house. My grandfather and my dad have had some of the best gardens EVER my whole life. I have so many memories (and yes I also complained A LOT) of picking vegetables and then helping to can them. It was fun for Rebecca and I to take our kids in the garden to do the same and then break the beans in Papaw’s house together after. For my TX friends who always give me a hard time, if you can name the SPECIFIC food in the last picture I will eat Mexican food with you. However, you also must remember the second reason I don’t eat it; I simply can’t handle the spices. 🤣 by @lbs4life

I think most people can agree that something has happened in their life that was unexpected. 16 years ago JD and I thought we were starting our family only to find out that the little heartbeat we had seen earlier in the pregnancy was no longer there. Although that was a dark time, we had no idea of the two blessings coming our way. Life doesn’t always work out the way WE have planned. Trusting and believing in God is hard, but always worth it. If you are in a season of waiting, keep trusting. Don’t be afraid to tell God your feelings. He can handle them. He knows your future but He also knows you’re human and your tendency to doubt. He wants you to choose Him. He loves you. I’m so grateful for His mercy and for our family. We also remember JD’s mom and her life on this day. It’s been 7 years without her. I am forever grateful for the man she raised who is now helping me to raise our two little disciples. Hug your people today and thank God for His plans for you. by @lbs4life

God always shows up. It is always so neat to see how He works in the smallest ways to show you how much He loves His children. Meagan and I went to celebrate her anniversary with her precious husband. We went to a wonderful restaurant where God gave us the best waiter. He was patient, funny, kind, genuine, and caring. You could tell that he understood the complexity of the evening and helped to make the experience so great. Meagan and I had great conversation, food, laughter, and prayer thanking God for the story of their love. I am so thankful for how many people they have touched, but my heart still hurts for my friend who has to do life without her love. She is doing it though. And she is crushing it.
