✨️ 42 ✨️

Every day that I wake up, I'm filled with gratitude - "a privilege denied to many," my dad used to quip. This reminder has me regularly reflective and delving deeper into my earth-side experience - both that which I want to contribute & a deeper understanding of co-creating my time here.

This particular birthday (9/15), had me deep in my feels (shoutout Cancer rising, but also the softness that comes with age & wisdom).
I was in Chicago.
I got to co-host another eco educational event, two days prior, with two of my closest people in attendance. People even stopped by, just for hugs.
I was surrounded by and uplifted in love and fun and new experiences & people and incredible hospitality.
I'm sometimes overwhelmed by all the love (tho well-deserved) and unbeknownst inspiration I am, especially when - many times - it feels as if no one is watching and I am, indeed, shouting (perhaps crying?) into the abyss.

Lucky barely begins to cover how I feel - about this solar return, those I share my time + space with, and where I'm headed. I'm grateful for the ways in which my closest people show up for and unconditionally love me - especially in the times I need reminded of WHO THE FUCK I AM. I'm grateful that my outer world and those I surround myself with, are also a reflection of the beauty in me. I'm grateful for finding my passion and sharing it at every opportunity.

As a Virgo, I'm unlearning the desire to hold myself to an excessive standard, particularly when grace & love, will do. I'm reminded to have more fun (none of us are getting out of this life, alive!); and I'm excited to make this year more intentional than ever - curating a life that my 80 yr old self will be more than proud to have lived, and will cackle about, when sharing (ideally on a dance floor). Thank you for the opportunity to do it again, with an even stronger understanding of coming into being and co-creating what happens next. 💗 taken in Chicago, IL by @lbstylist

♻️🥃🇵🇷 Cleanup & Cocktails, Chicago Edition 🇵🇷🥃♻️

9.13.26 a small but mighty crew showed up to clean up Humboldt Park neighborhood (one attendees' first clean up EVER 🥰🫶🏼) & learn about sustainability within cocktails - especially those derived from food waste - and how you can use some of these same items on the clothing you wear behind the bar 👕🥾

Grateful to celebrate Bourbon Heritage Month and the @arbordayfoundation with @angelsenvy by:
🗑 filling almost 6 five gallon buckets with trash (💡did you know you can request tools from the city??)
📚 learning about sustainability practices, specifically with the banana/plantain 🍌
🫙 introducing folx to their local refill store
🍔 enjoying lunch from @smash_jibarito
🍋‍🟩🍋🍌 making our own oleo saccharum
🥃 sipping on low-waste cocktails created by @lbstylist & @artsybartender (we could tell you about all the ways we use an ingredient, but you should come see for yourselves 😉 ps any guesses what those protein balls are made out of??)

Another incredible opportunity to reiterate and honor ancient practices & knowledge, amongst new friends and old 🫶🏼Thank you again @angelsenvychicago @platano.chicago @artsybartender @melasands___ and everyone who came out to Sunday Funday - nos vemos pronto 🌱🥃

🌱🥃 DIRTY DRINKS KICKOFF PARTY 🥃🌱 8.23.26
What a wonderful opportunity to kickoff @zerofoodprint 's Dirty Drinks week, with a pool party at @theponyboysd !!

It was only fitting for me - and my interpretation of "dirty drinks," - to create a menu of #upcycled cocktails, made with community #foodwaste (thank you @surfbowlco @coronadocoffeeco @theponyboysd ) & urban foraged ingredients.

I love the creativity that comes with figuring out #multiuse of an item; as well as utilizing your local community/ neighbors to share resources. Even more fun to surprise & delight people with ingredients they have likely previously tossed out in their own homes, but are now more inclined to consider reusing, themselves.

Thanks for coming out & supporting farmers restoring our climate by building healthier soil, Zero Foodprint and me! 🫶🏼 taken in Ponyboy by @lbstylist

I think my favorite part of @tales_of_the_cocktail is seeing industry fam from all over the world, for a week of giggles, sweaty ass hugs, and dancing, (likely at Nightbloom). Tho this barely summarizes all the wonderful time we had together, I'm grateful for it, no matter how brief. Catch y'all at the next one?!? 🫂🫶🏼

Truly so much to say about this project, this group, our mentors & fellow menteees... what an incredible opportunity to sit down with people who want to see us win (in 5 min increments, of course *ahem @alovesupreme 😉)

Thank you so much to @theadacolemanproject @kaitlinswilkes & @calfresco @luciacreed @raisethebar_mentorship @turningtablesnola - so very grateful to collectively see your idea come to fruition & share space and time (& spritz) with you!

To our mentors: @campariannesoda @bigbieworld @ricegirlrich - you made me feel seen; our "problems" normalized; and the suggested solutions, achievable. Thank you for putting so much love & positivity into a topic that's easily glossed over, ignored, or worried about so frequently, it makes the next steps feel impossible. I left, lighter & inspired.

To my fellow (table) menteees: thank you for being vulnerable and open in your shares. I'm in awe of the work & projects that you're pursuing and I'm so excited to see us all WIN!

Thank you Ada Coleman Project Mentorship Lounge for bringing together people from all over the country, who share a dream of achieving more in hospitality. Grateful to have been a part of it 🙏🏼✨️💕 by @lbstylist
