🏀 2026–27 LCA Boys Basketball Schedule

⚔️ Only 2️⃣ months away and another tough schedule is ahead—one that will challenge our guys throughout the season and prepare us for another postseason run.

😤 We open the year with 3️⃣ straight home games against private schools Covenant School (Charlottesville), Carlisle School (Martinsville), and Tandem Friends (Charlottesville) before traveling across town to take on rival Virginia Episcopal School. From there, we jump into the always-challenging Seminole District schedule.

🎄 Over Christmas break, we're excited to return to the Northside Invitational in Roanoke, where we finished as runner-up last season to North Cross. And speaking of North Cross—we'll get another opportunity to compete against them at the Chance Harman Classic in Floyd County in January.

💪 We'll round out our non-district schedule by hosting Grace Christian out of Mechanicsville, a talented and well-coached program that will provide another great test.

📈 Last season raised the bar. The standard is set. Let's go!

🏈 LEADERSHIP SERIES — SESSION IV

“Failure is the pathway to success.” @dr.zachclinton

What a powerful evening with Coach Frank Rocco, retired LCA Head Football Coach and Athletic Director.

Coach grabbed our guys’ attention right out of the gate with an old photo of himself throwing a touchdown for Penn State against Bear Bryant’s Alabama Crimson Tide. Here was a highly recruited athlete who competed at the highest level of college football and later experienced tremendous success as a coach.

But tonight’s story wasn’t about success.

It was about FAILURE — and how we respond to it.

Coach shared a side of his story that not many have heard — who he was as a young athlete, the expectations placed on him, the people he competed against, the successes he experienced, and, most importantly, the failures along the way.

Drawing from former LCA standout Dr. Zach Clinton, Coach shared a simple truth:

“Failure is the pathway to success.”

Coach challenged our guys to give your life to Christ, develop a growth mindset, accept hard coaching, have great body language, be a great teammate, be early, touch the line, develop mental toughness, prioritize recovery, and respond positively after mistakes.

His biggest reminder:

Your performance is NOT your identity. Failure is an event. How you respond is what matters.

📖 “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

For someone who experienced so much success as both an athlete and coach, Coach Rocco's willingness to talk about his failures — and how those failures ultimately helped lead him to Christ and shape the husband, father, coach, and man he became — made this one special.

Thank you, Coach, for your vulnerability, wisdom, faith, and continued investment in LCA athletes.

Our guys got better tonight. 🙏

🏈🏀 LEADERSHIP SERIES — SESSION III

Competitive Excellence.

A BIG thank you to Butch Jefferson for pouring into our guys today! @butch.jefferson.realtor

Butch is a man of many talents — real estate agent, business ambassador, Maxwell Leadership consultant, LCA father, and LCA Middle School football coach, just to name a few. He also knows what it means to compete at a high level, having played college football at the University of Virginia.

His message centered around Competitive Excellence and started with a powerful reminder:

Leadership is a CHOICE, not a TITLE.

Butch challenged our guys to understand that “luck” doesn’t just happen:

Hard Work & Preparation + Opportunity + Attitude + Action = LUCK

And competitive excellence isn't about being THE best.
It's about consistently working toward being YOUR best.

Butch also challenged the guys to think beyond success and pursue significance.

📖 1 Corinthians 3:6–7 — We plant. We water. But God gives the increase.

That tied everything together:

Consistency compounds. Keep planting. Keep watering. Keep showing up and doing the work every single day. Then trust God with the increase.

Focused Intensity Over Time × God’s Increase = UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM.

Great message. Great discussion. Another opportunity for our guys — and our coaches — to get better.

Thank you, Coach Jefferson, for investing in our young men and sharing your experiences, faith, and wisdom with our program. 🤝
