Happy 12th Birthday to our McLean! 🎉 Our baby turned TWELVE over the weekend and I can’t believe she’s a year from being a teenager! She keeps us laughing and there hasn’t been a dull moment since she was born. The most creative, funniest, and smartest kiddo I know! We love you SO much and can’t imagine our family without you. She makes us so proud of how many challenges she has and continues to overcome. She’s learned autism isn’t always easy, but can be her superpower. My precious mom went to be with Jesus. She courageously fought her disease for 30 years and battled it day and night for the last eleven years as it progressed. She was the best mom and “Gigi” with the kindest, caregiving heart and was always selflessly putting others’ needs before her own. She had the best laugh and made life so much fun growing up. We are so thankful for so many wonderful memories to think back on! She was servanthearted.. doing quiet acts of kindness and compassion when no one else was watching. Some of our favorites were showing love to cashiers at the grocery store, praying every time she saw an ambulance with its sirens on, always leaving “happies” for their beloved mail carrier, and sharing appreciation to the often unnoticed workers at the hospitals during her many stays.

Her journey taught her to find joy in the smallest things. She taught us all that hope is never lost. We are heartbroken, but thankful she is no longer suffering and that she is now rejoicing in heaven with the Savior she loved. His strength sustained her each day. She clung to the promise He would be with her until the end and that one day He will make all things new. She will have a body free of pain, be able to walk, and have a clear mind.

Thank you for the prayers and serving our family over the many years as we cared for her. Having her as a mom was the greatest gift. ❤️

McLean is 11!! 🎉 Happy Birthday to our baby girl, yesterday. She’s the funniest kid I know, is incredibly smart, and brings our family so much joy. It’s not lost on us what a gift she is and what a privilege it is to be her parents. So very proud of her and love her so! ❤️ by @lcdenley

CCS Last Day💙💛
So proud of Leighton this year! One year of high school down! Leaving somewhere that’s been school since 4K and starting new in 9th grade isn’t easy. It’s been a great year for her!! Beginning to hit me we only have 3 years left before college. 😢
McLean continues to amaze us doing things we never knew she’d be able to do, even in the midst of challenges and struggles. Onto 5th grade! by @lcdenley
