Work by Xinyi Yan "Faith is where anxiety meets hope.” ✨
So thrilled to finally share my final graduation portfolio — ”Dao“ 🕊️.
This project explores historical temples as sensory sanctuaries for emotional healing among contemporary youth. By capturing the visual and spiritual traces of weathered stone carvings, fading murals, and floating incense smoke, I’ve translated these ”disappearing memories“ into highly tactile, immersive knitted textiles.
Interdisciplinary Senses: Exploring the relationship between fashion, emotion, and materiality. I utilized double-bed structures to create 3D internal cavities, embedding magnets and custom incense pellets directly into the fabric. The garments literally ”self-close“ through movement, transforming clothing into a wearable sensory environment that responds to modern burnout.
Stoll and Dubied machines, combined with heat transfer and sublimation printing to create that blurred, eroded mural effect. by @lcf_knit_ba

Inspired by the patters in motherboards, using hand and machine techniques.
