You’re invited! 🤍 Join us Wednesday from 6:30–8 PM in the World Prayer Center as we begin our study of Henri Nouwen’s Reaching Out—making space for solitude, hospitality, and prayer together.

All women are welcome, and pre-registration is appreciated (link in our bio)!

📖 Read Movement One (chapters 1–3) before Wednesday if you can. Reading will help you get more out of the study, but it’s not required to join in! We’re preparing questions everyone can engage with, whether you’ve read every page or haven’t started yet.

We’d love to see you there! 🤍 by @lcgrothe

Going on a safari in Africa has held the top spot on my bucket list for a long time. To spend 4 nights in a tent in the Masai Mara with my favorite people was an absolute dream come true. We got up early, animal watched for several hours, ate amazing food, served by amazing people. We had hippos munching on grass at our tent door, Masai tribesmen guarded the tents at night, Cape buffalo made an unwanted pilgrimage to our camp, Wilson set a record 100 yard dash time after coming up on a male lion on foot, a hot air balloon ride that was absolutely amazing and of course lots of laughs. Memories that will last a lifetime. by @lcgrothe

Waking up this week with missing pieces in my home. Pieces that all fit together so beautifully this summer. I got used to the way she fit right back in to the flow of the family. The girl to girl side ways laughter, the sweet memories made, the day to day normalcy of having her around. And it is so right for her to go back to college. I am so happy for her, AND I will miss the heck out of her.

Those of you launching college students for the first time over the next few weeks, here is one piece of advice Daniel and I have from our first go around at this last year: discuss your “goodbye.” Have a plan, you and your kid. Where will you be, who will pray, who will turn and walk away first. Just kind of hash it out so you can have a plan. It sounds silly, but it will help. We got caught off guard last year, we thought we could walk Lillian to her dorm room, but they locked parents out at night so there we were, standing outside her dorm, praying, giving hugs and shedding tears. It was all beautiful and sweet, but it was so hard to go ok, I guess we will turn and walk away now, get on a plane and see you in a few months. Discuss what you all want it to look like, so you can be present in the moment.

No matter the season, grace to you parents as you launch your people into the next thing. by @lcgrothe

There was never a question in my mind that Daniel would be an amazing dad. From the first moment he found out he would be a dad until now, he has led our family so well. Thanks for making the best dad jokes (and pastor jokes), and for cheering our kids on with all you have. Thanks for challenging them in growth, but always leading the way. The quick “I love you” as well as the quick “I am sorry, please forgive me” shape our children in how to walk faithfully and humbly in this journey of faith. The laughter that fills our home as well as the hollers and cheers for a Sooners win! You make our home a place of joy. Our kids are only beginning to understand how great they have it! by @lcgrothe

L I S A is the best thing that ever happened to me.

The smile says it all. Her eyes tell a true story. Innocent. Pure. Bright. Wise. A woman of prayer. An utterly sane and sincere presence. She is a peace-be-still walking around in a stormy world.

Her children have been shaped by her demeanor. They know where Center is because of her composure. Her laughter is infectious, and one of my favorite occurrences is when that laughter turns into happy tears. Which is often. It’s a mode of being that everyone in our family loves.

I remember when we were engaged. She said to me, “I love you, but I’m not a pastor’s wife. I don’t know how to do that.” Apparently she had a narrow image of what that could be. I told her I didn’t need her to play organ for my tent revivals. 🤣 I told her she didn’t have to be a “pastor’s wife”. She had all the permission to simply be Lisa and that would be more than enough. She’s been a school teacher, a small business owner, a real estate broker, a mom, a designer and developer with me. And last year she even took up some church work after 20+ years. The irony is that in 45 years of being Lisa, she has passed the faith on to more people than she’ll ever be able to count. And she’s done it without ever getting outside of her profound and powerful personhood.

Today is her 45th birthday and I can hardly think of a more compelling first half (or so) of life! And I’ll never take for granted that I get to be the firsthand witness of her multifaceted beauty.

Lisa Carol, I admire you as the day is long. I love you. Happy birthday! by @lcgrothe

A few pics from April. I looked back through my calendar and I believe since Easter week, I slept in the same bed about 2 nights in a row before moving to a different bed. Loads of travel but that included bringing our girl home for the summer and watching Wilson play lots of basketball, as well as some days in the UK with some of our favorite people. These are the days… by @lcgrothe

Some highlights from Wilson’s sophomore year of ball. He had a breakout year this year, and he’s just getting started.

6’3 and twitchy. Sees the floor super well. Pogo stick hops. Long arms. Hard worker. Great attitude. Great teammate. Follow along @wilsongrothe.

He’s playing club ball all summer around the nation and will be in front of coaches. That’s what’s next. Love to find the right coaches to connect with.

But @lcgrothe and I are sure proud of our son! He’s busting his tail and we know it will pay off for the rest of his life. by @lcgrothe

Our baby is 14 today. One of my greatest joys is to be able to say that I am Wakley’s mom. He loves deeply, he plays hard, and anything he puts his mind to he goes all in. Keep asking good questions, keep laughing, and keep growing. The Lord is with you and so is your family. by @lcgrothe

Wednesday we begin a five-week journey through the Psalms. Join us!

The Psalms aren’t just private prayers—they were written for a people. They teach us how to lament, rejoice, confess, and hope together.

Each evening we’ll gather around tables for:
Worship
Teaching
Honest discussion

Together we’ll learn how to bring our emotions before the Lord—openly and without fear.

🗓 Wednesdays
March 11, 18, 25
April 8 & 15

⏰ 6:30–8:00 PM
📍 World Prayer Center

Bring a Bible if you have one. (Let us know if you need one. 🙏 ) if you would like a supplementary resource to delve into, we will be referencing “Open and Unafraid” by David Taylor.

All are welcome. Come as you are and pull up a chair.
