Rianka Macwan '24 with Lewis & Clark's Low Income Taxpayer Clinic has been awarded an unprecedented third year of funding through the ABA Christine Brunswick Public Service Fellowship, allowing her to continue her work advocating for the tax rights of adults in custody in Oregon.

Through the fellowship, Rianka has helped adults in custody navigate complex tax issues, recover tax refunds and economic impact payments, and access legal representation. She has also engaged law students in this work, expanding the Clinic’s ability to provide tax assistance to an underserved community.

What an inspiring evening with Professor Robin Kundis Craig, this year's Distinguished Environmental Visitor at Lewis & Clark Law School, hosted by the Environmental, Natural Resources, and Energy Law program.

A longtime member of our community and a proud alumna, Robin returned to campus to present "Food Security and Resilient Ecosystems: Marine Aquaculture for the Anthropocene," exploring how food security, marine ecosystems, and the future of environmental law connect. Her first takeaway made the room smile: when someone says "marine aquaculture," don't assume Atlantic salmon. Her broader message was just as memorable. Thoughtful regulation can support both food security and healthier, more resilient oceans, but marine aquaculture should not be a free-for-all.

The evening also celebrated five Distinguished Graduates, Chris Gunn '11, Bubba Cook '03, Paul Conable '97, Marc Fink '95, and Oday Salim LL.M. '09, along with 2026 Williamson Award recipient Tory Dille '26. We're proud of the many ways our environmental law community puts its education into action. by @lclarklaw

What does it take to build a fulfilling career as an attorney while making space for life outside of work?

The Honorable Angela Franco Lucero ’03, judge for the Multnomah County Circuit Court, recently visited Professor Meg Garvin’s ethics class to share insights from her own legal career. Students had the opportunity to hear her perspective on getting started as an attorney, navigating the demands of an early career, and finding balance along the way.

We’re grateful to Judge Lucero for returning to campus and sharing her experience with the next generation of attorneys! by @lclarklaw

We were honored to welcome the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to Lewis & Clark Law School for a special sitting on campus.

For our students, having the opportunity to observe oral arguments firsthand and see the appellate process unfold in the same classrooms where they learn every day was a unique opportunity to connect their legal education with the practice of law.

We’re grateful to Circuit Judge Michelle T. Friedland, Senior Circuit Judge William A. Fletcher, and Circuit Judge Ana I. de Alba for bringing the work of the Ninth Circuit to our campus and creating such a memorable learning experience for our community. by @lclarklaw
