Hyrox Race #5. My first men’s elite, and my first solo race.

Glad to get this one done in my home city, with my friends and family cheering on the floor, right there by my side.

After weeks of training, the goal was simple: finish. Getting there was less straightforward. At wall ball #99, my leg cramped. Just one rap left, and I had to stop. With help from the medical team, I eventually completed the final push.

The race exposed the gap between training and game execution. Strength, technique, pacing, preparation, strategy - there’s work to do in all of them.

But nevertheless this one was done. Proud of the milestone I reached in just one year’s time. 🫶✌️

A year ago, Ian and I met at a Starbucks to catch up. Halfway through, he had to leave for CrossFit training. Later I learned he was preparing for something called #HYROX. Fast forward a year. I’ve done more sled pushes, wall balls, lunges, rowing, SkiErg, and burpees than I ever thought possible. Along the way, I’ve completed a Mixed Relay and now a Mixed Double. Thanks to @ian0622 for pulling me into this game. And thanks to Stella for being an awesome teammate. Both of my legs cramped up right after the race, and she was there helping me stretch, and recover. And until this day, I still have no idea of how liuyang finished his elite men’s single…see you guys in Hangzhou taken in Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Convention Center by @ld.juniper

3 months ago i didn’t even know what #hyrox was…thanks to @ian0622 for introducing me this new addiction. Let’s just say…switching from golf to HYROX is not all that easy. Now we have a baseline. Let’s get better. taken in Shanghai, China by @ld.juniper
