✨ Saturday was one of those days that came together right on time! ✨

That morning, I received a call from Michelle asking if I wanted to see the Gordon Parks exhibit, Voices in the Mirror, at the Jack Shainman Gallery. The funny thing is, I had literally spoken to my son the day before about wanting to see this exhibit. Talk about perfect timing!

The exhibit was absolutely amazing! Gordon Parks was a true visionary, a gifted artist, and a storyteller who was ahead of his time. His work continues to speak volumes and reminds us of the power of photography to capture history, culture, and the Black experience.

And I will definitely be going back with Tristan! I believe it’s so important for him to be exposed to extraordinary African American artists and photographers who have made such a lasting impact on our culture and history. Gordon Parks is definitely one of them, and I want Tristan to experience and appreciate his brilliance firsthand.

After the exhibit, we headed to Balthazar for drinks, good food, and great conversation before heading home.

If you’re in New York, you MUST see this exhibit! Voices in the Mirror at the Jack Shainman Gallery runs through November 6, 2026. Make plans, get down there, and experience it for yourself! Trust me, it’s worth it.

👜✨ MEET PETER, THE CREATOR OF THE PETER BAG! ✨👜

On Friday, I had the pleasure of meeting Peter in person! After seeing all the buzz Janelle created around these bags, I had to get my new bag signed by Peter himself. He was so nice, and I truly enjoyed meeting him and his daughter! 💙

There were also amazing local vendors selling clothing, furniture, African stools, and so much more. It was a great day to shop and support small businesses!

MICHELLE TAKES L.A. ✈️🌴 — PART TWO

We pre-gamed at Adrienne’s before heading to the concert, and we had a BALL!

We played music, drank, laughed, fellowshipped, took photos and just enjoyed each other’s company. Of course, we had to stop and give birthday girl Michelle some birthday love before we headed out!

Then it was time to GO! We were off to the Usher & Chris Brown concert, and let me tell you… we had an AMAZING time!

But I’ll save all of that for PART THREE…

MICHELLE TAKES L.A. ✈️🌴 — PART ONE

First stop: Brunch at Joyce Soul and Sea!

And we had SUCH a good time!

The chef actually came out and talked to us about the menu and told us his favorite was the shrimp and grits. So, of course, me and Tiannia got the shrimp and grits!

They were really good, but let me tell you what stood out to us…

That catfish was EVERYTHING!

Me and Tiannia both agreed that the catfish was the winner!

The drinks were good, the ambiance was beautiful, and the energy was amazing!

We were laughing, talking, fellowshipping, and enjoying each other’s company.

And then I found out some of my friends actually carry their own seasonings around! Hilarious!!

Michelle gave us an amazing speech and toast because, of course, we were there to celebrate HER! And they even gave us complimentary lemon shots, which was such a nice surprise.

Good food, good drinks, good people, and LOTS of laughs. It was such a great brunch!

So if you are ever in L.A I would highly recommend @joyce_dtla!
