I’d say this was a meet me in 5, but I quickly realized that it’s literally impossible to select only 5 of favorites for each piece of media 🧍‍♀️ so instead we’re settling for 483958 picks for each selection because that’s who I am as a person

One thing about me is my ADHD riddled ass needs a video playing at all times 🤪
Here are a few of my favorites book related creators, BUT if you’re not entertained by Certified Haters poking fun at books, then maybe you might wanna skip some of these 👀

“I really like reading terrible books and making it everybody else’s problem” is such an apt way to describe this channel. Ainsley revisits some oldies such as Divergent, the Uglies trilogy, Modelland, and Twilight as well as newer adds like Freida McFadden and Colleen Hoover. I find her commentary so funny and her reading of Fifty Shades of Gray absolutely hilarious, especially as a lesbian myself 😭 if you’re feeling nostalgic and roasty, check Ainslee’s channel out!

Although her channel isn’t 100% book themed (Alizee also does videos re: influencer tomfoolery), she has a pretty extensive playlist of book review that range from Colleen Hoover to Onision’s god forsaken self published books. A true hater at her core, I’m absolutely obsessed with her hours long reviews. If you’re a fan of that dry ass British humor, this one’s for you!

This is Gab Smolders, a well known streamer in the gaming community’s side channel where she talks about her travels, day to day fun, and her love of books. Her taste is very similar to mine, so I tend to get a lot of my book recommendations from her channel when I’m looking for something new! If you want a cozy vibe that feels like you’re listening to a friend on FaceTime, Gab is absolutely the creator for you.

One thing about Frankie is they are HONEST. Sometimes they end up roasting a book I absolutely loved, but in a way where it opens my perspective, and gives me a new way of looking at it. That being said, a certified hater in a very fun way. If you enjoy literary fiction, aren’t afraid of a book you love getting dunked on, and enjoy roasty humor, give Frankie a peep! by @leadmetothemoonflow

Jenny Kaplan is struggling to hold it together: a messy breakup, the loss of her job over a socially taboo she wrote, and the harassment from alt right extremist groups online have her hanging by a thread. Her luck is looking up when she gets a freelancing offer to interview and spend a week with social media influencer and trad wife Mia Wright. Jenny begins to make some startling observations during her stay: staged accidents during Mia’s videos, strange glyphs written on the walls, unsettling nightmares, an eerie yellow afterglow surrounding the Black Swan Farm and its neighboring town. Jenny begins to unravel and feels like she’s losing herself. Will she make it out of here?

This is my absolute worst nightmare: the loss of identity, of bodily autonomy, the forceful religious indoctrination. I appreciated the fact that the intention of this book isn’t to mock women that choose this lifestyle, but rather shed light on the commercialization of Christian values as a means of indoctrinating the masses. Trad wife content has become increasingly popular as of late, if you know even a little crumb about that corner of the internet, I’m sure you already have a certain former Ballerina in mind…. 🤫 The feelings this book gives me reminds me of Weapons, It Follows, and Mother!

This book was a slow burn but in the most satisfying way to me. I couldn’t help but want to know more and found myself devouring this chapter after chapter: whether it was the main character’s story being fleshed out or the explanation of the lore. It never felt slow to me. There are so many aspects of the lore that I especially loved but I won’t spoil it, but if you enjoy the occult then you will have a hell of a time sitting down with this book.

Thank you so much to @netgalley , @atriabooks , and @sarahlangan for providing this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!

Trad Wife is out September 29th.

If you’re looking for companion literature for this read, there are heavy nods to The Yellow Wallpaper as well as The King in Yellow! by @leadmetothemoonflow

It’s time for my August wrap up! Such a fun month—I got to peruse my first couple of ARC copies from NetGalley and I’m so freakin’ excited to hopefully get approved for more (Trad Wife is next up!). I started with a 0% so I wasn’t too hopeful, but was delighted to snag a peek at Jane Schoenbrun’s Public Access Afterworld which I am OBSESSED WITH, especially after seeing Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. Help! I can’t Stop Shitting Snakes was another ARC I got to check out, and it was a delightful little surprise. If you’re curious anout either of these, check out my ARC review posts!

I also started reading through Otessa Moshfegh after checking out McGlue in July, and I absolutely love her. I’ve definitely got Lapvona, Eileen, and Homesick for another world on my ever growing TBR list 👀

Another standout to me was Paradise Logic, who h was such a unique ride and I wish I could read it again for the first time. A strange and off putting read that may not be for everyone, but I couldn’t get enough of it.

I also took some time for some just-for-fun reads like Hide, The Felicity Complex, And Youthjuice. These are definitely some entertaining reads of you find yourself in a slump!

📼⛔️FIND THE RECEIVER. MAKE IT REAL. FIND THE RECEIVER. MAKE IT REAL. ⛔️📼

All I can say is: fucking fantastic. Wow wow wow.

Jane Schoenbrun being the author of this book was already an immediate yes, and I was so excited to be able to get a chance to read this.this one was a beefier read, which intimidated me a little, but once you get into the story it feels like you’re moving so fast.
I found myself blasting through this read as much as I possibly could, all I wanted was to know more more more.
Icouldn’t get enough of Jane Schoenbrun’s world building of such an ambitious idea. If you love multiple perspectives, time jumps and all things liminal/analog horror, this is the book for you! I feel it’s unfair to dive too deep into the plot here, in all fairness it would be impossible to describe it without doing it justice.
I think this is fantastic companion to her “Screens” Trilogy: We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, I Saw The TV Glow, and Teenage Sex & Death at Camp Miasma. I found myself drawing parallels to the lore of all three. I like to think these all take place in the same universe, all four of these works can be experienced in a new way if you look through that lens. I CANNOT stop thinking about this book.

Public Access Afterworld will be released October 27,2026.

Thank you to @netgalley , @hogarthbooks , and Jane Schoenbrun for this ARC copy! 📺 ⏳ by @leadmetothemoonflow

Adam has a little something going on: he’s shitting snakes. A lot of them. And he can’t stop.

I immediately knew I had to read this book based on the title alone. I thought this was going to be a kooky little read, and came in with not too many expectations. I’m delighted to find that it delivered in more ways than I imagined: funny, weird, gross, and touching- I couldn’t help but blast through this book. Darby, Adam’s wife, is such a ride or die and I love her for that. This book had me asking my girl, “Would you still love me if I couldn’t stop shitting snakes?” (She would) (Thank God)

This one is for the folks who have dealt with having a mystery illness. This one is for the folks who have had to navigate the shitshow that is the American healthcare industrial complex. This one is for the folks who have felt gaslit, desperate to be listened to and believed.

Sometimes the snakes you shit out of your ass are the friends you’ve made along the way. 💖
I give this journey 3 🐍 out of 5!

Help! I Can’t Stop Shitting Snakes is out on January 12th, 2027.
