Ask yourself, “What’s the one thing I want to be known for?”

What value do I want to bring to the table? What benefit will someone get from working with me?

We hosted our first official welcome party this weekend 🎉

Our amazing fellows got the chance to connect with each other and share their amazing stories on how their different paths have led them to the Leads By Design fellowship.

Fellows also went on to share their expectations and what they hope to gain from the program - from improving design and storytelling skills to having a community that pushes them to meet their career goals.

Finally, we discussed the importance of creating a career plan and how to use it to navigate important conversations throughout the career journey.

Aniekan (@aniekaan) used to be a financial accountant before deciding to pursue a career in product design. She has always been a quick learner with an excellent understanding of the current industrial innovations.

Currently, she’s at VFD Group, one of Nigeria's leading information technology companies, as a young product designer. by @leadsbydesign

Runor is a branding, graphic and UI designer who has spent the past few years creating experiences for web and mobile.

He is currently designing Bridouh, a DCA app that lets anyone buy and automate plans for crypto assets. Outside of work, he makes digital art/collages as a form of self-expression and had his first solo exhibition in December 2020. by @leadsbydesign

Charlene, who goes by ‘Charlei’(@charlei.h), was recently awarded a scholarship to study UX via Google.

Her background is in marketing, but through skills she gathered from her communications degree, combined with her passion for research, she’s executed projects in data visualization, creative direction and demographic research specifically for fashion and creative projects.

According to her, UX is by far the most aligned career choice she’s ever made. by @leadsbydesign

She is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan School of Information where she majored in Information Science/HCI with a focus in UX Design and Research.

Tere (@tere_sagay) is a problem solver who transitioned from architecture to product design.

In the third year of her undergraduate architecture degree at a college in Texas, her class studio was tasked with designing housing in Brazil's favelas (slums). The research, discoveries and experience of designing this project birthed her passion for design.

She currently works in the Nigerian fintech industry and is passionate about design education. She also speaks five languages. by @leadsbydesign

In his final year at Covenant University, Joshua (@joshoyedepo) co-created a magazine that represented the creatives in CU. After months of planning and designing, he and his team put out the first issue and it received a lot of positive feedback.

This project, he says, is what impacted his choice in becoming a designer.

Joshua is a multi-faceted individual interested in all things design and storytelling. He enjoys crafting end-to-end processes with the inclusion of storytelling by @leadsbydesign

Working in the healthcare sector and seeing how technology and design could drastically improve patient experience, save time and ultimately their lives, was the one thing that impacted Adeola’s (@hrsdee) choice in becoming a designer.
