I remember meeting @magdaleno_delgado while I was casting for a commercial that I was directing in Mexico. They mesmerized me from the moment they were presented to me, and later discovered them to be among the kindest/sweetest people I’ve ever met.

I put them through hell on this shoot: naked, dancing under the midday sun on the scorching roof of El Presidio, a 19th-century prison established by the Spanish colonial regime on Mezcala Island, the very place where Indigenous insurgents had resisted Spanish forces during Mexico’s War of Independence. Something so poetic, about witnessing a queer person with mixed indigenous lineage, dancing freely over the ruins of a structure built by the colonizers. Only time could write an irony so beautifuly.

Despite the heat and tension of the place which was felt in every corner, they showed nothing but grace and willingness to get the perfect shots.

Special thanks to my dear @erichclemenz for Magdaleno’s beautiful hair and for bringing the best energy to our adventure to Mezcala. taken in Isla de Mezcala o cárcel de Presidio by @leaduque

Our Matrix 🧬

Proud beyond words to see my little sister @adriaduque share her gift on the last day of Venezuelan legend @gustavodudamel at the @laphil, in a concert to raise funds for those affected by the tremors that shook our beloved country. Que rico sentir la magia de nuestra música en esta magnitud, con tanta gente hermosa cantar y celebrarte #Venezuela 🇻🇪

Also special thanks for always trusting me to dress and adorn you, in such special moments of your blossoming as the incredible artist that you are and have always been 💫 taken in Hollywood Bowl by @leaduque

You’ve made it here… Now, there are no rules, only shades of color.

You’re the captain now, so feel it. Do as you wish.
Take space. All of it.
All that you want, all that you need.

Once in there, you are free, and I wanna feel free together…
