A couple of weeks ago, I had my first book signing!

Huge thanks to @madriguez6 for organizing this through @villagewellcc indy bookstore in downtown Culver City.

On Thursday, June 18, it will be my great joy and honor to cohost a Lead With Kindness book celebration with the Coaltion of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment! We’ll be at the beautiful creative space and in the community of Rideback Ranch, where I’m a mentor and have spoken to their fellowship cohort previously.

The event will also raise money for CAPE and its programming, including this summer‘s upcoming annual CAPE Showrunners Incubator, which I helped found and am co-chairing this year with the iconic Kelvin Yu.

Joining me on stage for the evening will be my friend and former Nancy Drew colleague @rjhatanaka (now a series regular on Criminal Minds: Evolution) to discuss how kindness can rewrite Hollywood.

Last week I had the best time at @atxfestival with my amazing @creativeartistsagency agent @theannblanchard – we talked about how to @leadwkindness in Hollywood, the importance of loyalty, and how to be intentional about using your voice and expanding your village. Confession: I started this account because I’m on a quest to change the culture of Hollywood (and the world; I never said I wasn’t ambitious).

For the past two decades, I’ve been navigating the high-pressure, dysfunctional trenches of the entertainment industry, experiencing the impact of toxic leadership in my early progress up the ranks, and more recently being in a position to intentionally create and implement respectful, humane and sustainable workplace environments *that result in better products and deeper success.*

I’ve been doing this work for years on the executive teams of TV shows and as a co-founder of the @writersguildwest Leadership Training Program.

To counter toxic dynamics & workplace harm, I’ve written a book to share my strategies with everyone who longs for more kindness _and_ for more success in their orbits.

An April Fools’ memory from a summer day on The Gifted in 2018 🗓

In this Marvel/Fox show from the X-Men universe, our mutants were hiding from the law and living off the grid, and sometimes they would go to our rooftop set for heart-to-heart conversations. Beyond the actors, VFX would later swap in a starry night sky in place of the greenscreen on the soundstage. But in reality, we could bring a camera dolly to the edge of the building and “boom up” for an angle looking onto the roof.

In this BTS gem, while our actors @seanjamesteale and @blairredford were filming an intensely emotional conversation as mutant heroes Eclipse and Thunderbird, our EP @brightidea asked the dolly grip to raise him up with a delivery box in hand so that he could interrupt their scene with the news that he had a pizza 🍕 for Wolverine (who, as much as we would have loved to have had him on @thegiftedtv show, was busy in movies elsewhere).
