I can’t talk about it with you. I don’t know how long I’ll leave this up. There is so much more to know and I am just me- overwhelmed and terrified. My feelings pale in comparison to those in Palestine tonight. Please do some critical research from genuine resources. Check the United Nations website and other forms of media that have been historically unbiased or less biased than others. Speak to your Palestinian neighbors. Stop believing everything you see on the internet. by @leafcute

This is my best friend/quarantine pal/chosen brother fernando. He took me under his wing as a super scared, super pregnant 18 year old me, and has been there for me, my parents, my sister, my kid ever since. I’ve watched fernando hand his heart over to other people a million times over the years. He is the smartest person I know, and the most loving, kind, gentle giant of a man, with a trivia brain like you’ve never seen.

The first time we hung out together, I picked him up at 5:30 am at his house in Garfield for a long hike. As soon as he got in the car, he unfolded a piece of paper that was absolutely crammed back and front with notes and bulletpoints, and said ‘so you mentioned the Tupac/biggie thing yesterday..’ . This man had created an entire presentation for me to catch me up to speed on some history/drama. We hiked for 2 hours and he told me everything he knew about it, checking his notes often. When we got back to my car, there was still another page of notes left that he hadn’t touched, so I took him with me everywhere for the rest of the afternoon while he explained every little detail of hip hop culture that he had learned the night before.

When we lived together for a few years, I would often find him asleep in the grass with a book across his face, or doing art in his trailer with the AC off in 110 degree weather. He is weird as fuck and one of the great loves of my life. He stuck around and helped me raise Valerie, watching her so I could go to work or teaching her some weird thing that only Fernando would know. He took care of me when I was sick, he wiped my tears when I was heartbroken, he cooked for me every morning and night, he let me talk his ear off about everything imaginable, he lent me his favorite books- I could go on and on about my love for this man but instead I’m gonna get straight to the point.
