I think I’ve had a little love affair with fashion for as long as I can remember.

I’ve tried almost everything.

Different silhouettes, differencolorsrs, prints, textures, layers and proportions. I’ve tucked shirts in, left them loose, played with scarves, mixed unexpected pieces and tried to make one outfit look like five different ones.

I’ve probably experimented with every drape I could find. Different blouses, unexpected pairings, jewelry, belts, scarves — sometimes keeping it classic, sometimes completely making it up as I went.

There was a phase of statement jewelry, too.
Big earrings, bold pieces, and that one chunky neckpiece that somehow appeared with everything.

I followed trends, mixed them, probably overdid a few of them.

And yes, there were fashion blunders along the way — the kind you look back at years later and think, “What was I doing?”

But there were also those little moments when an outfit came together exactly the way I imagined it.

Looking through these photographs now, I realise I wasn’t trying to find a style back then.

I was trying to find out what I liked.

Every silhouette taught me something. Those colors showed me something. Every saree drape, blouse combination, scarf, accessory and questionable outfit brought me a little closer to understanding my own taste.

And somewhere along the way, I started wanting less.

Less noise. Less decoration.
More beautiful cuts, quieter colors, better fabrics, thoughtful details. My wardrobe became calmer, but my love for fashion never did. Because I still love fashion.

I just don’t feel the need to wear everything anymore.

Maybe that’s what growing into your style looks like — not leaving all those versions of yourself behind, but carrying a little bit of each of them with you.

Looking back, I don’t think I was ever changing my style.
