🍂Ruth says autumn is a fantastic time to plant trees, shrubs and perennials!🌱

The soil is still warm from the summer, while the cooler weather and rainfall helps new plants settle in before the frosts arrive.
Planting now encourages strong root growth, meaning that when spring arrives, your plants are already well established and ready to get off to the best possible start.🌿

Here are Ruth’s top planting tips:
🌳Dig a hole wider than the pot your plant has been growing in.
🪴Plant at the same depth as the pot — don’t plant too deeply. The soil level in the pot should be level with the surrounding soil.
💧Firm the soil around the plant and water in well.
🍃Mulch around the base with garden compost to help retain moisture around the root ball.
💦Keep watering during any dry spells, especially while plants are getting established.

Come spring, your plants will have had plenty of time to develop a strong root system, giving them the best possible start to the growing season. Happy planting!🌸🌳

Here’s a little video talking through some of the plant combinations we used in our floral display at the RHS Malvern Autumn Show.🌼🍂
It’s a great example of how you don’t have to stick solely to traditional autumn and winter bedding plants. By mixing in perennials, you can add extra colour, texture, structure and interest to your displays.🌿

We’re here all weekend at our final flower show of the year — the RHS Malvern Autumn Show!🌸

Our floral display has been through judging and we’re delighted to have been awarded a Silver-Gilt medal!🥈✨
After a bit of a gold-medal streak this year, it’s a shame not to finish the season with another Gold, but we’re still really pleased to be taking home a Silver-Gilt — and hey, it’s at least another colour!😉🌿

If you’re visiting the show this weekend, come and say hello! We’d love to see you. You can also find us outside with our stand, where we’ve got lots of lovely plants for sale.🌱

We’re so lucky to work with so many fantastic local businesses along Lytham high street, and we’re going to be sharing a little love for each of the wonderful businesses we work with.💚

First up is Zest!🍽️🍷
Last week, we swapped out their summer bedding for a gorgeous autumnal display, with spring bulbs tucked underneath ready to bring even more colour as the seasons change.🌷🍂
