Dear Alexia,
Even though nothing I write could fully express what I feel, I want to try to put my love for you into words. I spent days trying to figure out the perfect way to start this letter, but then I realized perfect meant nothing to you. You accepted everything as it was and never complained, even during the hardest times. You always prioritized our feelings over your own.

You made everyone around you feel seen, understood, and loved—especially me. I don’t know how my life will function without you. It feels like our world has stopped while everything else keeps going. But your presence will always stay with us. Your laugh, your irreplaceable humor, and your bubbly personality will be deeply missed.

I’ll miss you always, but especially in the mornings at school, when I don’t have anyone to listen to Katie’s long stories with, when someone tells an unfunny joke, and most of all, when I graduate. You were always so ambitious. Planning our futures together never felt like a question—we just knew. We dreamed of going to Baylor and becoming anesthesiologists. Your drive would’ve made any medical career easy, and your kind soul would’ve made you the perfect doctor. The world is missing out on all the amazing things you would have done.

You had a confidence I’d never seen—never afraid to speak your mind and always willing to embarrass yourself just to make someone laugh. Being around you was refreshing. After knowing you for a short period of time, I knew that I had found a friend I could confide in, a shoulder I could cry on, and most importantly one of my future bridesmaids. My heart aches for you and what you went through. I will always wonder why it had to be you when you had such remarkable goals for the future and why you had to be taken so soon. But I will find peace in knowing that you are no longer suffering and are finally resting after fighting such a hard battle. I aspire to be like you someday. I love you to Hogwarts and back and can’t wait for you to be my first hug when I join you. by @leah.crowson
