🐦‍⬛ It’s all about the Birds in September! 🐦

Come Into My Garden by Blackbird Designs is going to be one of my focus pieces for Sampler September - and with those sweet little birds, it fits perfectly with our September BIRDS theme for Blackbird Academy!

This has also been my “two floss a day” stitch and I’ve been working hard to get all the “bones” done. They’re finally finished, so now I can move on to the fun stitching! I’ve planned to work on this one throughout our entire Blackbird Academy school year, and September feels like the perfect month to give it some extra attention.

And the sweetest happy mail arrived just in time! Kaye @redroosterquilt sent me this beautiful project bag made from Blackbird fabric, and I immediately knew it needed to be the home for this stitch. ✨ A new start with some very special stitchy friends! ✨

Today I’m putting the first stitches into Stay True by Brenda Gervais!

My sweet friend Geri @cocochirp_stitch and I have been planning to stitch this one together, and she chose today for our start date for the most meaningful reason — it’s her granddaughter’s 5th birthday! Geri said that staying true is something she hopes to instill in little Marge as she grows, and I just love that this sampler will always be tied to that sentiment and this special day. 🥹

It’s also turned into a little group start! My mom and my friends @pacificcoaststitcher , @ellesnaps , and @amygaskins are all joining.

I photographed it alongside a quilt made by my great-grandmother, Lucille Tutt. ❤️

I’m stitching on the called for 36 ct R&R Winter Brew with Vikki Clayton silks. Oh the colors! 🥹

This episode is turning the page from summer and getting excited for fall! 🍂 I’m sharing my finished Blackbird Academy August assignment, what I’m thinking about stitching as we head into fall, giveaway winners, new giveaways, and lots of stitching inspiration!

🍂FIRST ASSIGNMENT: COMPLETE! 📚✏️

And she got an A+ I think! 😂

My August “Alphabet” assignment for #BlackbirdAcademySAL is officially stitched AND fully finished! Bittersweet September by Blackbird Designs — and I cannot get over how adorable she turned out. 🥹🍁

The alphabet, the little house, the moon, those perfect fall colors… ALL OF IT. She has me completely ready for September. 🌙🍂

Today is the kickoff of Blackbird Academy, a year long Blackbird Designs SAL hosted by me and Leah Bloom @leah.r.bloom , where we follow monthly stitching prompts and stitch our favorite Blackbird charts.

For August, the theme is any chart with an alphabet. I chose A Stitcher’s Companion from the book, Honeysuckle Manor.

I’m giving my piece a fun glow up with this beautiful curated floss from @colourandcotton
