one of my biggest struggles has been balancing the hurtful behaviors and undertones that comes with evangelicalism. being someone who’s labeled as “radical” while trying to fit into Christian circles & circles with unbelievers is something I feel I’ll be navigating for a longtime. the stains and hurt of this faith & the struggles of living a life that honors God with your beliefs/ morals/ principles & identities, is very real. college has given me some of the greatest people & greatest memories; but it has also broken me into the identity I currently stand in, and in this lies bitterness strength & uncertainty. striving to grow & coat your life in love is the hardest thing, and you fall short. and that’s okay. but I’m standing firm. by @leah_joy98
🧘🏾‍♀️🍵 PILATES + MATCHA FOR BLACK WOMEN I got laid off in July, and instead of navigating this season alone, I want to create space for us to move, breathe, connect + pour into each other. 🤎 So on September 27th, I’m hosting a FREE Pilates + Matcha event for 15 unemployed Black women. 15 women. One room. Good energy. Community. ✨ 💌 Spots will be selected through a Google Form (in my bio) 🤎 Donations are welcome to help fund the event 📣 TAG a career coach, recruiter, resume writer, or organization offering job-seeking resources below! We may be unemployed, but we’re not without community. 🫶🏾 #BlackWomenSupportingBlackWomen #CommunityCare #PilatesAndMatcha #BlackWomen #Unemployment by @leah_joy98

This election, voters will have the opportunity to weigh in on five ballot proposals that could shape how our state and city are governed. 💡 But what exactly are ballot proposals? Ballot proposals are proposed changes to governing documents, including the New York State Constitution and New York City Charter. They give voters a direct say in whether these changes should become law. 📢 Your vote is your voice! Before heading to the polls, take some time to learn what each proposal means, what’s at stake, and how your vote could shape the future of our communities. Polls are open today November 1st from 9am-5pm and Tuesday, November 2nd 6am-9pm ! 🗳️✨ #NYCVotes #BallotProposals #YourVoteMatters #CivicEngagement #ElectionDay New York City Voters will be electing representatives at the Federal, State and Local levels. Find a sample ballot at Ballotpedia.com for more information on what offices are up for election in your district ! Find your poll sites for early voting vs. Election Day at findmypollsite.vote.nyc! New York City Voters will be electing representatives at the Federal, State and Local levels. Find a sample ballot at Ballotpedia.com for more information on what offices are up for election in your district ! Find your poll sites for early voting vs. Election Day at findmypollsite.vote.nyc! Ballot Proposal 1-Brief Overview Business and property owners alike must request permission “revocable consent” to use public spaces such as sidewalks and streets for accessibility ramps, benches, and outdoor cafes. Currently, this process requires every applicant to submit an application to either the Department of Transportation (DOT) or Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI), present their request at a city hearing, pay for newspaper ads in the City Record, and notify community boards and elected officials. Proposed Process: Public Hearings are optional. No need to publish newspaper ads, but notices can still be posted in the City Record. DOT would replace City Council as the sole authority responsible for approving/denying permits. ✅ A YES vote: • Makes public hearings optional instead of required

i wrote a mini substack article, reflecting on one year in seminary! “Dear Leah, In a world that feels like it’s drawing further away from care and compassion, I pray you remain curious, empathetic, and constantly in search of joy. As you’re in the middle of a milestone that is pulling out and strengthening your purpose, pay attention to the things that feel challenging yet that pull your heart.  Pray that your heart remains tender, gentle, & firmly committed to a love embodied through action.” Link is in my bio & on my story🫶🏾🥹 by @leah_joy98
