exactly a year and six months ago I moved to Portland. I’ve done so much reflecting and thinking about what I can even begin to say about that experience and I’m still not sure I have the words, but I’m gonna try anyway. I moved to Portland to finally complete my music therapy degree by getting 1200 hours completed at an internship. I did that internship at an adult behavioral health facility, following in the footsteps of two of my peers from college. I moved in with my best friend from college, and lived around the corner from another. I got to know incredibly amazing people while I was out in Portland, and I’ve created deep lifelong beautiful friendships with people who I never would’ve met if I didn’t have this experience. The day after I moved to Portland, my Auntie Beth died. I knew that she had waited for me to get out there and I know that she’s incredibly proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish. The last year and a half has not been without incredible hardships, but I’ve also grown and learned the most I think I ever have in my entire life. I will always be incredibly grateful to what Portland has given me. From being able to visit old friends in Seattle, to nourishing those new ones I created in Portland, to having new life experiences that have genuinely changed me, to feeling like I’ve been able to come back to who I am after a long time of not feeling that way. Thank you, especially to Cora, Elyse, Griff, Riley, AJ, and Wes for folding me into your beautiful chosen family. this is a collection of pictures that may be a little boring but are meaningful to me. And last, but not least thank you to Ahsoka, the best dog in the world 😭❤️ by @leahmantis
