Leah Singer & Lee Ranaldo apresentam Contre Jour. 🌖

Há mais de três décadas, Lee Ranaldo, membro fundador da influente banda norte-americana Sonic Youth, e a artista visual e escritora Leah Singer cruzam música, cinema e performance, criando uma experiência multimédia experimental.

Em 2011, durante uma visita à ilha da Madeira, Ranaldo descobriu o trabalho da artista madeirense Lourdes de Castro. Levou consigo livros sobre a sua obra e, quando os partilhou com Singer, ambos descobriram uma notável coincidência entre os seus trabalhos artísticos.

Esta descoberta deu origem àquilo que Singer descreve como uma espécie de 'amizade fantasma', uma ligação construída à distância com alguém que nunca chegou verdadeiramente a conhecer, mas com quem sentiu uma profunda afinidade.

9/11 - 1. A polaroid of Sage taken when the second plane hit. We were at home a few blocks away, getting ready for his second day of preschool - we donated the picture to the ‘Here is New York’ photographic project spearheaded in the days following by Alice George, Charles Taub, Gilles Perres and Michael Shulan. In a former Agnes B storefront in Soho - photos of that day were dropped off by professionals and amateurs alike, scanned and printed and then hung on clothslines across the room. 2. Somehow that photo ended up in a permanent display in the 9/11 museum. When we first went when the museum opened, we were shocked to see it. 3. New this year 7 bells for victims who have died or are suffering from post 9/11 related illness. It ironically coincides with the recent unveiling of secret documents that reveal how dangerous the air quality levels were down here. 4. A rainbow appeared on the south tower pool today. 5. 9/10/01 the day before- first day of pre school at Judy’s. by @leahsinger8

Meeting this hero was meaningful.
