I started this account 29 days ago and never told you why.

So here it is.

I’m a mom of 4 kids, and after my youngest was born, I hit a wall so hard I didn’t know who I was anymore. I was burnt out, running on empty, and convinced I was failing my kids every single day.

I wasn’t doing crafts. I wasn’t doing sensory bins. I was surviving.

And the guilt? It was relentless.

Then one day I made myself one tiny promise — just ONE small engaging activity a day. Low prep. Just one moment that counted.

It changed everything. Not in a dramatic way. In a quiet, steady, “I can actually do this” kind of way.

I made this account because I know I’m not the only mom who has felt that way. And I have big dreams of building a space where moms like us can breathe a little easier — and feel like we’re doing enough.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that fine motor practice is too complicated.

It doesn’t have to be!

This sheep activity took a shoebox, a screwdriver, and Q-tips and it’s building:
🐑 Hand strength
🐑 Pincer grasp
🐑 Hand-eye coordination
🐑 Focus
🐑 Bilateral coordination

These are the skills that help little hands become ready for cutting, writing, buttoning, zipping, and so much more!

This is exactly why I include hands-on fine motor activities in my Learn & Play Kits. I want parents to have simple, low-prep ideas they can actually use.

We’re skipping the worksheets today and doing uppercase and lowercase matching through play instead.

Instead of worrying about who (or what) they’ll cut next, let them practice on Play-Doh hair instead!

All you need is a face printable, some Play-Doh, and kid-safe scissors. Roll out the “hair,” give it a trim, then make it grow back and do it all over again!

One of my favorite parts of being a mom is watching all of those little learning moments come together.

The fine motor activities we do aren’t just crafts or ways to keep him busy. They’re building the hand strength, coordination, planning, focus, and confidence he needs for real life skills.

Today, he made his own chocolate pudding and sliced the banana for the top *almost* entirely on his own using his kid-safe kitchen tools from @joyrealtoys 🥹

The goal is never the activity itself. The goal is this: a child who feels capable. A child who believes, “I can do it!”

If you’re wiping as many butts as I am… save the lids 👀

This simple shape matching game takes just a few minutes to make and works on: shape recognition, memory skills, visual discrimination, fine motor skills, problem-solving, and much more!

All you need is a piece of cardboard, wipe lids, and markers. Kids lift each lid to find the matching shapes… it’s like a preschool version of Memory!
