What stood out most at the Mayor’s Mississauga Building Challenge wasn’t just the final models. It was the creativity, care, and dedication students poured into the process. ✨🏛

From the first sketch to the final presentation, they were fully engaged in meaningful, hands-on learning. Throughout the day, they were:

- Brainstorming ideas
- Solving problems
- Testing designs
- Adapting plans
- Collaborating with teammates
- Learning directly from industry mentors

By the end of the day, the @livingartscentre was filled with scale models inspired by buildings across Mississauga—and with students who had built confidence, skills, and new perspectives on what their futures could look like. 🏗️🛠️

At myBlueprint, we believe students are most engaged when learning feels connected to who they are and where they want to go. Experiences like this help make career pathways tangible, showing students how their skills, interests, and learning can connect to real opportunities in the world around them. It was awe-inspiring to see everything the students learned and achieved that day.

A big thank you to @learnit.ed, @citymississauga, @mayorcarolynparrish, and everyone involved for making this day possible and creating a one-of-a-kind experience.

This is what happens when students are given real-world challenges, industry mentorship, and the space to create.

On May 1, the first Mayor’s Mississauga Building Challenge brought together 100 students, 33 teams, and industry professionals. 🏗️🏢

Students from @peelschools, @dpcdsb.schools, @cscmonavenir, and @sheridan_college worked alongside mentors to build scale models inspired by Mississauga buildings. We were all impressed by how they applied problem-solving, teamwork, and design thinking in real time. We saw firsthand that when students see purpose in their learning, engagement follows. The energy in the room was incredible to witness—everyone gave it their all. 🙌

A huge thank you to @mayorcarolynparrish and our partners @learnit.ed and the @citymississauga. Special thanks to all the leaders, mentors, judges, educators, and volunteers who helped bring this experience to life and helped create an unforgettable day.

100 students in Construction SHSM programs spent the day building scale models of the Mississauga skyline alongside 30 architects, engineers, and developers. Mentorship.

City Hall, Adamson Estate, and twin twisting towers took home the top three.

100 students. 33 teams. 4 hours. One miniature Mississauga.

The whole thing started with keladafelo, a Mississauga high schooler who built a replica of the Marilyn Monroe Towers using only Dollarama supplies. The Mayor saw it, called it the future, and handed him the Key to the City 🔑

We watched students ask if they could skip lunch to keep building. We watched mentors get serious about concept behind each designed. We watched a city skyline appear out of foam board.
