Lechner Racing set for Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe debut 📣

A new challenge awaits one of the most successful names in Porsche Motorsport, as Lechner Racing is set to make its debut in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe with the start of its 2027 campaign. The Austrian team brings an impressive wealth of experience to the grid, including a record of success in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, where Lechner Racing is the most successful team in championship history.

Robert Lechner is looking forward to taking on the new challenge with the team: “We’re looking forward to competing in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe. It’s a new challenge for Lechner Racing, and one we’re ready to take on with the experience and full commitment of our team.”

With the championship taking place in January and February, the PSCSE also offers the team an ideal opportunity to continue their momentum over winter. Team Manager Michael Schöch explains: “The Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe programme in January and February puts the entire team in a competitive environment early in the year. It gives us valuable track time and gets us into a racing rhythm for the season ahead.”

With 10 drivers’ titles and 13 team titles, Lechner Racing is the most successful team in the history of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – the pinnacle of Porsche one-make racing. In a series where everyone drives identical cars, no team has made its mark quite like the Austrian outfit.

Success on this scale can seem distant and intangible. But in the team’s hometown of Thalgau, just outside Salzburg, it feels deeply personal. Here, amid lush meadows near the Fuschlsee and Mondsee lakes in the Salzkammergut region, it’s a story of community, family and a racing tradition more than 50 years in the making.

The final race of the @porschesupercup season was also the craziest! Chaos at the start and a red flag left us with no chance of fighting for the win in Monza. But with every race there’s always a podium and it meant so much to the whole team to see the pink colour up there one more time! 🩷

After a strong start, @robertdehaan_ secured second place and became vice-champion! 👏 @marcusamand_ and @calebsumich brought it home in fourth and 13th respectively.

In the teams’ championship, BWT Lechner Racing finished the season in third – just behind second place after a closely fought battle. Our finishing positions would have given us enough points for the teams’ vice-championship, but the shorter race distance meant that only half points were awarded.

A second row on the grid, all in pink 💕 – and a promising starting point for the final race of the 2026 @porschesupercup season! @marcusamand_ narrowly missed out on pole position and will start from third.

BWT Lechner Racing are aiming to end the season on the podium, and @robertdehaan_ also has a good chance of making it happen at the Temple of Speed in Monza 🇮🇹 The driver currently sitting second in the championship will line up fourth on the grid, putting him in a strong position to fight for another podium finish.

Free Practice for the final round of the 2026 @porschesupercup season in Monza took place under perfect conditions. All three drivers quickly felt at home, with Marcus Amand going fifth-fastest and Caleb Sumich securing his best practice result of the season with seventh. Robert de Haan was just behind in eighth. Now our focus is on preparing for qualifying on Saturday at 10:50!
