Hiked the Notch Hill Loop Trail today in Nanoose Bay. A long way up, but beautiful forest with Garry Oak grove along the way ending in a very dry top with an abundance of colourful arbutus trees. Passed by some enormous ant hills and a spooky mask ! Ended the day with a side trip to Brickyards to cool off our feet and check out the crabs, sea stars , fish ….and watched a Blue heron catch and eat a fish for lunch! #nanoosebay #notchhillbc by @leckie1953

A fabulous 12,000 step walk on some of the trails of Saysutshun Island (formerly known as Newcastle Island) today. The coastline and rock formations are amazing and the interior does not disappoint…even saw a mother doe and her baby! Hiked the Jack Point and Biggs Park trail this morning! Amazing rock formations, shady forests, including arbutus trees and views of Nanaimo and the estuary . A fabulous family walk, cool breezes and way too many pictures!! #nanaimo #jackpoint by @leckie1953

Flying over the Rocky Mountains is a treat on a clear day….rather unnerving when another plane flies under the one you’re in though! Some of the most beautiful hydrangeas I have ever seen ( bee included!) and the sun coming up at the beach…coffee and jammies, you bet. #britishcolumbia #lanzville by @leckie1953
