This series of ten paintings reimagines robots through the lens of classical portraiture, drawing
inspiration from both modern day science fiction works and classical art of periods like the
Baroque. Each piece depicts humanoid machines posed with dignity and quiet introspection, as
if they belonged to a royal court of the future.
These robots are not simply mechanical surrogates. They are reflections of our own
transformation. We stand at the threshold of profound change, caught between the familiar
warmth of biology and the cold promise of digital existence. As I painted these figures, I kept
returning to one idea: humans are a biological caterpillar that is making a cocoon to become a
digital butterfly.
In this cocoon, we invent technologies that extend our senses, automate our labor, and
challenge our notions of identity. The robots in these portraits are symbols of that
metamorphosis—at once elegant and unsettling, intimate and alien. They invite us to consider
what we might gain, and what we might lose, as we evolve beyond the limitations of flesh.
This work is a meditation on memory, aspiration, and the uneasy beauty of becoming something
more than human.
