Port Welshpool long jetty. This jetty runs 1 Km long and is the only jetty in Victoria to have a “bend” in it. The original jetty was built in 1858. It was damaged by a fire in 1880, and then another in 1886. By 1928 it was decayed and infested by naval ship worm. It was rebuilt (and eventually eroded), and then rebuilt over the decades. The jetty you see today is a total rebuild and was finished in 2018 - This place has a long history! #jetty #australianhistory #port #coast by @lee_laweaver

Some of Victoria’s white history on the shores of Walkerville’s south beach. Six lime kilns once operated here from 1875 to 1926. They supplied quicklime to the building industry in Melbourne. With the rise of the use of cement and high transport costs it seen the end of their use right up to the 1950’s. Nature and the ocean are now claiming these ruins. William Ricketts Sanctuary, here in the Dandenong Ranges. Recently reopened after severe storm damage saw its closure five years ago. Sculpture, William Ricketts made frequent trips to central Australia to live with the Pitjantjara, and Arrernte Aboriginal people between 1949 to 1960. Here he was inspired by their culture and traditions to later sculpt these and other beautiful pieces until his death in 1993. #aboriginal #sculpture #dandenongranges #australia taken in William Ricketts Sanctuary Mt Dandenong by @lee_laweaver

The Rochester Silo. Part of the Australian Silo art trail. The mural depicts an Australian Squirrel glider(on the left), and an Azure Kingfisher(on the right). My sister and I attended the RONE exhibition “HOME” in mid June.
This installation was a 1960’s to 70’s home built from scratch and staged to look abandoned (complete with backyard inside the shopping centre). RONE’s art can be seen on the wall in the staged kitchen area. If you’ve followed my content for a while you’ll have seen RONE’s others works on my page. This was certainly a stroll down memory lane for both of us as many items seen here were part of our childhood .. making us feel home sick for once what was.
