Welcome to the world, 𝑫𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈, my new single! 🦌👣🎧🎻🤍🔁

This recording is the biblically accurate version of a largely improv’d piece I’ve been playing for the last two years. I’ve been exploring the idea of return in my creative and personal life, and at 34, I feel like whatever questions I still have for the world have likely already been answered in one way or another; all I have to do is go over the game tape again to find it. Though by returning to a special place physically, emotionally, spiritually, even sonically, I found you inevitably learn something new. A new coin drops onto the pile and pushes a payload every so often. The same applies to music, never the same loop twice.

The proper track was recorded, mixed, and mastered by my immensely talented friend, Sam Clapp. We recorded at Marmalade here in Chicago, where our duoship also took form (more on that later...). Couldn’t be happier with how it turned out 🥲

While you’re there, try out the live version on the b-side, a one-shot recording from Estlin Usher’s Intervention series I played at Innertown Pub back in May of this year. These 2 recordings feel like ‘acoustic’ and ‘electric’ sibling pieces, even though it’s all electroacoustic running in the family.

Perhaps you could listen to this somewhere special to you, like LaBagh Woods, Waveland Clocktower, or some other warm place while you can. (BTW, no field recordings on this track btw; be in one yourself.) Return to where you return.
