We are a non-profit co-op of musicians & creatives in Leeds who aim to provide affordable access to high quality soundproof premises for lease & hire.

POSTS STORIES REELS

Hello! Here's a little intro & breakdown of our rates for our members. Dry-hire recording studios for low hourly rates. Record yourself at a pro standard for as little as £6!! Or just practice your drumming for cheaper than anywhere else in Leeds. Please share with your pals. Big love! x

We set up the co-op with help from @cooperativesuk, who were great when it came to writing our articles of incorporation. TBH we’re yet to really know the answers to our ‘what if’ questions but we hope that many of you can join us and make the project a success, and to become the first place people in Leeds come to when they ask themselves “where can I go to to work if my work consists of making noise?” by @leedsstudiocoop

It became apparent very quickly that we'd need planning permission for the project, (which in one swoop added at least 18 months and tens of £thousands to the budget) so one of the first things we did was to get an old site office cabin to work out of as the building itself was dusty, damp & in a pretty bad state of disrepair.

We then got another, with the aim of quickly converting it to a studio to use while the main building went through the planning grinder... Our 2 month "Empty Cabin -> Studio" conversion estimate was another massively optimistic assumption 😑😆

1 - 1st cabin delivery
2 - 2nd cabin delivery
3 - Indoor water feature
4 - Breathing apparatus
5 - Cabin Studio mk1.0 (Theremin, drum machine, record player, guitar amp and plastic roast chicken) by @leedsstudiocoop

Time to start telling the story of the past 6 years. Our first members have seen the place develop but most of the you haven’t yet so we’re going to share some of the key moments across the next few months. Please follow if you’re interested and share if you feel so inclined. by @leedsstudiocoop

I’ve been trying to learn this beat since we got this drum kit (about 3/4 years ago or something ridiculous now), still a work in progress and I still can’t do the fill at the end properly. 2nd vid is me trying it at something close to full speed… it’s definitely beyond me (& I’ll get someone else to play it when it comes to recording) but v fun to try and satisfying to nail it now and again. #practice #drums by @leedsstudiocoop

Back with @vessels.band in prep for gigs in the summer at @nath_brudenell & @arctangentfestival. Always nice to have some time in between running through the tracks for some freeform jams. #elektron #chasebliss #moog #fxpedals 🤘 by @leedsstudiocoop

Never have 3 chords infiltrated so deep into my dreams. RIP David Lynch, & Angelo Badalamenti. 💔🏔️🏔️ by @leedsstudiocoop

So it turns out rehearsing in a recording studio with actual sunshine ☀️ and ridiculously civilised volume levels 🎚️ is a remarkably pleasant experience… I can wholly recommend. Thanks to the rest of @vessels.band for the first rehearsal that didn’t leave my ears ringing (any more than the baseline) in about 15/20 years.
If you’d like to experience this yourself then get in touch about joining as a member, we do recording facilities at cheap rehearsal room rates (amongst other things - drum practice space, cheap PA hire & more).

Peace n Love x
Xx
